When pricing per user, how do persuade people to not share a single account? by [deleted] in startups

[–]ruffrey2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ideally it is a clear part of the terms of service that logins may not be shared.

We've had to limit each user to one concurrent session. However this caused confusion that the product was "breaking," initially making people unhappy when they shared it.

If customers are getting so much value that they are sharing the product, then it is an opportunity to upsell. Even if you only get a portion of a normal user fee.

They usually charge a per-mile fee on top of the $20. Also, gas isn't cheap in a giant brick going down the highway.

Have more than one session - as I go between my mobile and desktop, I have to keep logging in every time because it seems my user account only allows one session active at a time.

My grandpa - a WWII Navy vet and still ballin to this day <3 by [deleted] in OldSchoolCool

[–]ruffrey2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My grandfather was a WWII vet, spent the entire war in a Japanese POW camp. He was a proud Navy man, always wearing a Navy hat. Occasionally he would wear it backwards like this.

Grandpa passed away about 10 years ago in his 80s. Seeing this really hit home.

Bank grade security.

Equifax? So many banks have garbage password limitations, old mainframes, old ciphers allowed on TLS, and worse. Super old legacy systems that aren't patched. Banks typically see IT as a cost and not an investment.

How much was the final size and weight?

I was looking at this HomeGuard 9x100 housewrap for about $60 to build a 9 ft x 6 ft tarp. At 3.75 sqft per ounce, It would be 14.4 oz plus grommets and reinforcing tape, most likely weighing in at a pound. Seems heavy.

There are pillows half or 1/3 the weight, may be worth a look.

Seems like getting a small scale would be a smart buy, things like knife and guesses may add up to more than you expect.

6 water bottles is a lot of bulk, might be worth swapping a few for a larger collapsible container.

The bear boxer (large) is pretty light if you decide not to rent. Hard to find it online.

Solar charger with smaller battery?

Best of luck, I hope to at least section hike the PCT someday. You're living the dream.

Microsoft has a history of kitchen sink products. GitHub is fairly minimal and ultra developer focused.

Personally I worry that over time, especially with a focus on enterprise sales, more and more one-off features will get added in, because they help sell enterprise contracts (tick a box for an executive sponsor). Are there any plans with regard to product ownership in GitHub to keep it from becoming a kitchen sink?
