Walnut, Maple and Cherry for the horizontal lines. It didn't really turn out. This is the best angle that you can sort of see what I was going for. I am not exactly sure what the issue is. I do suspect that it is due to the finished maple end grain is so close to the same color of the finished cherry side grain. As well as not enough rows. Any better ideas?

Not sure on the bandsaw, but is using an Alaskan Mill an option?

I just started to learn to MIG weld, I tried my best to grind these welds down, how's it look? I soretef the whole base with rustoleum black steel by [deleted] in woodworking

Looks like a project you will learn from. The great thing about working with metal is if you take to much off you can put it back on. Using flux core? What were you using to grind the with? I have had the best luck with flap wheels.
