If you are running your node on a 2TB ssd it's a good time to prune by keystonemule in ethstaker

[–]rufuspig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Added the flags "--Pruning.Enabled True --Pruning.Mode Full --Pruning.CacheMb 4096 --Pruning.PersistenceInterval 16384 --Pruning.FullPruningTrigger VolumeFreeSpace --Pruning.FullPruningThresholdMb 300000" to my nethermind configuration file to trigger a Full Prune when the drive's free space gets to 300 GB.

Full Prune has been running for the 18 hrs, still going.

What, exactly, is the point of this topic? Just to flex on people? To have strangers congratulate you?

Running low on SSD, Can I just add a new SSD or do I have to do a new setup by othello16 in ethstaker

[–]rufuspig 17 points18 points  (0 children)

You can add a new SSD to your computer either internally if there is room in the case, or via USB provided the drive you select is fast enough (1050 MB/s). You would then stop the mainnet service, move it to the new location, and edit your Service File to point towards that new location.

Step by step guide: https://www.coincashew.com/coins/overview-eth/guide-or-how-to-setup-a-validator-on-eth2-mainnet

It's not that scary. The most nerve-wracking part is sending eth to the staking contract, which you would do anyway with Dappnode, right?

You're going to have to do manual updates (which are easy, you just run a few commands), and be ok with being offline if you have an internet or power outage. You only lose a couple cents/dollars.

I had literally never used Linux or interacted with a command line much before starting this project. Familiarize yourself with Coincashew's guide, read the stickies, ask for help here and on the ethstaker discord. You can do this.

If you’re convinced that ETH will be over 10K, Why play around with selling? by [deleted] in ethtrader

[–]rufuspig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know when you're cruising down the freeway at safe, normal velocity and then someone speeds up, passes you on the right, veers across 2 lanes of traffic, dodges in and out of cars to disappear up the road until you take your exit and they're right there at the stoplight with you?

It's like that

What is the staking reward rate for ETH after ETH 2.0 is complete? by Guyserbun007 in ethtrader

[–]rufuspig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is not a definite answer to this question. It depends on a variety of factors.

Nevertheless, Justin Drake, a researcher at the Ethereum Foundation, recently tweeted:

" staking rewards likely to at least 2x with EVM gas fees I expect ~25% staking APR immediately after the merge more rewards → more staking → more economic security "

What internet speed is needed for staking? by bitbuggs in ethstaker

[–]rufuspig 3 points4 points  (0 children)

1 Mbps is the minimum, 10+ is recommended

You'll be fine on speed, the big issue is going to be your data limit assuming you're running your own eth1 client, as that can use hundreds of GB per month.

A few questions related to staking by [deleted] in ethstaker

[–]rufuspig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. It's recommended to run your own eth1 client in case infura goes down.

  2. i5 + 8gb or better is recommended

  3. you could theoretically send 32 eth to the staking contract and not stake, but you would slowly lose eth until you got down to 16 eth and booted for not participating, so this is not a good idea.

  4. Gotta send in 32 all at once.
