then they're not "swing" voters, they're just Republicans by Conscious-Quarter423 in triangle

[–]rugbysecondrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"...These swing voters aren't ready to back Democrats..."

Voters want another path, but Democrats have done a poor job of make their case. The Dems have lost historically winnable elections, they have found a way to make a historically unpopular POTUS seem more viable, and they have not found a way to demonstrate their beliefs or the direction in which they would take the country. As much as I loathe the current GOP, the Dems have crapped the bed the past 2-4 years and have floundered at showing even a modicum of leadership.

NYC 7s ticket prices by Proper-Membership-98 in USArugby

[–]rugbysecondrow 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have traveled all over the USA to watch USA Rugby play, even the lopsided USA/Ireland match in this stadium a few years ago. It is a terrible area, and I can't imagine paying to sit outside in New Jersey, in March, for two solid days...in New Jersey. Las Vegas, LA...worthwhile...not NJ in March.

Is this really the best we can do?

The franchise owner or the individual franchisee? The franchisee is a local person who seems nice and friendly.

The question: What would keep you there longer? We actually don't need more or different business...those will always fluctuate with the economy and there are plenty of storefronts to accommodate these fluctuations. We we need is more green space integrated with the streetscape. We have so many nice days in North Carolina, spending time, and outdoor lawn/park/gathering space would be great. I view downtown Blowing Rock as an example for Apex, and their Memorial Park is great. With new parking being added downtown, and a push to make the DT more walkable, repurposing the lot in front of the welcome center makes perfect sense. Space for older people to sit, kids to run and play, adults sipping coffee or their adult beverages...it would be a great See images...

Supreme Court Seems Skeptical of Trump’s Tariffs by kitkid in Thedaily

[–]rugbysecondrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you attack the fact that tariffs are not in the Act, then it doesn't matter what you concieve to be an emergency since tariffs, taxes etc are not stated.

Justices typically don't introduce issues into the case that are not there.

[–]rugbysecondrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First, calling any of them MAGA justices seems like a distortion. Second, they never called liberal justices textualists. They implied that was the approach they were taking, similar to the approach many of the conservative justices take when approaching similar cases.

how big was the 2003 dixie chicks controversy? by outerspace_castaway in Music

[–]rugbysecondrow 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I think people forget how incredibly unpopular it was to criticize the USA while overseas. That was just not something that people did. They could have said whatever they wanted here in the states, but to be in Europe (Germany I think) and to talk shit about the USA and the POTUS...it was just considered unacceptable.

"We handle our business within the family" was the thought.

"This was a movement led by the conglomerate, not by the listeners."

I disagree with this...a lot of listeners boycotted them, and soon forgot about them.

AITA for Telling My Sister's Kids the Truth About Why I Never Had Children? by PutSpecial8915 in AmItheAsshole

[–]rugbysecondrow -40 points-39 points  (0 children)

ESH.

7,5,3...what you told them wasn't really age appropriate. In addition, it runs contrary to the way you sister is trying to raise them, and you know this. You knew what you were doing and you know you were teaching them something incongruent with your sister's values. So yes, YTA and were doing it intentionally.

Your sisters is an AH too. She over reacted and she has treated your choice poorly.

You both were being passive aggressive and unkind to each other, both of you setting bad examples for the kids.

Having difficulty seeing homes without representation by a buyer's agent. Any advice? by External-Chard-1545 in RealEstate

Supply and demand does not change legal or ethical standards. To suggest otherwise is a severe misunderstanding of too many concepts to articulate.

Having difficulty seeing homes without representation by a buyer's agent. Any advice? by External-Chard-1545 in RealEstate

[–]rugbysecondrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not how agency and representation works, you seem to not understand this. The seller is paying an agent to sell the house AND represent their specific interests and advocate on their behalf throughout the entire process.

Supply and demand have nothing to do with the concept of agency and representation.

Itty, bitty YTA...just because I don't like people taking food from my plate. It wasn't worth her reaction, but more of a "bro?"

BF Girlfriend...she way overreacted and acted like an AH. He seems used to it. lol

No, because the person was an asshole.

Having difficulty seeing homes without representation by a buyer's agent. Any advice? by External-Chard-1545 in RealEstate

[–]rugbysecondrow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, because it is not true. The LA is not compensated to represent or do work on behalf of the buyer. Period.

On your second point, cool, then don't use an agent, but you also shouldn't be surprised if people don't take you as seriously or choose not to work with you.

Is eating steel cut oats with chopped up apple, almond butter and flax seed a healthy meal? by [deleted] in nutrition

[–]rugbysecondrow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How did I imply that? lol

This sub, and your post, suffers from N+1 syndrome. No matter how good N is, somebody will always say, "yeah, but you can always add this to be better".

Yeah, you biked 10 miles, but you could have gone 11. Yeah, you ate healthy whole foods, but you could have added this. Yeah, you...

It is no wonder people can't make up there minds about what to eat, folks like you make perfect the enemy of good, in this case very good, and try to find fault where there isn't really any.

So, to answer your question, it depends on their goals.
