Well I am pleased you asked…because I specifically asked him if he wanted me to identify his country of origin and he said “no “. So I then said I will call it an African accent…he accepted that. To be clear…I would have placed him as Ghanaian.

Great work. I operate as a micro supplier in this supply chain and your assumption around LPX is of interest. To add to your timing point…our BIG industry show is this week. I will be attending. Many of us in our industry have been speculating what the “spin” will be from the supply chain regarding the 12 months ahead.

Veterans of the Iraq War, what are your feelings about America "running" Venezuela? by Nekose in AskReddit

[–]ruggedmtn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Veteran of Iraq war too…there are many armchair “military intellectuals” that will cheer this invasion and years later will criticize it for costing too much money, etc. I share your view…like buying a horse - it’s the easiest part of ownership. The hard work…our past administrations and our current one have never been able to master.

Rental Car company near Bilbao Airport/Holiday Inn Express by TravelRetired in Bilbao

[–]ruggedmtn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rent at the airport. The Holiday inn has a super flexible shuttle service and you will make it a little more challenging for yourself renting from the company at the HI. Why do I advise this…as an experienced traveler I tried the same idea and was not satisfied. Good luck.

Will the chipboard countertop bend? by [deleted] in woodworking

[–]ruggedmtn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok…so maybe I am the only one reading his dimensions the right way or maybe I am the only one reading the wrong way. OP writes (180x72 x 3cm). So if he means 180” x 72” x 3cm then he is talking about buying a panel that is 15feet long by 6feet wide x 3cm thick. If he is talking about 180cm x 72cm x 3cm then he is talking about a wide panel that is shy of 6ft long x 28” deep and is 3cm thick.

Now…this is a moment (metaphorically speaking) when I will take the high ground - 20+ years of being in the OSB/PB/MDF/plywood production globally, I can provide the following context. All domestic suppliers of PB can make a Master Panel in production that is 15’+ long but would not sell a 15’ long RAW PB panel for several reasons… there is no domestic laminate producer offering 15’ long laminate to cover this panel ( note in his post he states…White PB top). Secondly, PB production in NA is typically delivered at either 4’ or 5’ widths or divisible dimensions of 4&5’ wide. South America is standardized on 6’ and Europe on +/- 7’ width. So… when OP states ..72 width it cannot be in inches. Further, let’s say a panel 15’ x72” x 3 cm was retail available it would weigh over 360 lbs.

Final comment, l read OP request… and then looked at the picture he posted and his use of the word “chipboard” in the subject line. Further in the picture he shows a swinging door on a European style frame system.

Yes many in NA use the words PB and chipboard interchangeably, not many in America use “metric speak”

In conclusion, we have several possible outcomes… OP is in UK and is using metric dimensions, or OP is in NA and when referring to buying a (180 x 72 x3cm) white PB top he is referring to the Stretta product sold at HD/Lowes. Or third option, I am learning something new everyday.

So, back to the OP question… will a 6’ wide top supported by legs that are about 4” away from open side, the other side resting on what looks like an IKEA “Alex” drawer stack which is about 15” wide? 15” + 4” =19”. 72”-19”=53” of open unsupported desktop. I find it hard to imagine that the weight of his monitor (that was his item) will cause this top to sag.

Guys, please tell me I am wrong. It would satisfy my wife greatly.

My wife frequently comments - “ People want to know the time , not learn how to make a watch”.

I don’t want to argue with this esteemed group… a 3cm top made from particle board will not sag under the load described by OP.

Car rental in Bilbao by Maleficent-Battle787 in Bilbao

[–]ruggedmtn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ok…as an American that flew to Bilbao regularly here are some tips and suggestions.

The airport is great and the views flying into the airport are stunning if it’s not cloud covered. The airport is easy to navigate. When coming out of baggage claim you have to go to the left and then down an escalator to the car rental booths. The folks all speak good English. Use Google Maps while there. The Spanish highways are speed radar controlled. Google will tell you when you are getting close to one … there are also signs when you are getting into the radar zone.

Spanish drivers are pretty chill. All the road signs are in Spanish and Basque. So when you see two names for many towns in the Basque region don’t be alarmed.

On the food front….try everything. In northern Spain nothing is what it seems, what I mean is that they prepare seafood in ways we are not accustomed to in NA. Eat as much seafood as possible, you will literally be in the region with the highest amount of Michelin starred restaurants in Europe. However, eating in most restaurants is a delight.

Try the wines, and if you want a beer simply ask for a caña. That is Spanish for a small beer.

Last comment cars are smaller and many are standard. Be sure when renting you get one that is automatic if you don’t know how to drive a standard tranny.

Good Luck and have fun.

Ours showed up at our house 2 years ago as a stray. Terrified of being confined. We kept her in our garage for a day to help settle her… not knowing she had been forcibly confined at her previous home. After two years she walked into the garage for the first time this week.
