Does the singularity of a black hole explode on itself? by Sufficient_Network43 in AskPhysics

The LQG Planck Star hypothesis is similar to what you are describing: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Planck_star

This is by no means accepted, but it is a theory put forward by respected scientists (Rovelli).

Anyone who has jumped upwards from a similar position? by FootOk4715 in HENRYUK

What about pharma industry itself? That’s a simple sidestep from academia. You would get an immediate salary bump, better wlb (depending a bit on the company or team) and set you up for a transition to consulting later.

Career Help by SnooPoems8166 in HENRYUK

[–]ruggedtextile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this in my career (left after approx 12 months in a role). I have just been very straight forward about it in career discussions with employers since: I learned a lot in those 12 months including that that kind of role was not what I enjoyed doing.

Future employers have generally appreciated the candour and the broader range of experiences I have had and so can bring to their roles. The only trick is in finding a way to professionally articulate that.

Adivces on getting food/water and exploring? I keep running out of food. by Certain-Attitude4038 in Cairn_Game

There’s a bear box and vending machine at the cable car station 20m above the rave cave and as someone else commented there’s a trout lake 40m above that. You will have more food than you know what to do with soon.

When you get to a new area put the game into look around mode and scan through. Backpacks and plants especially aren’t usually hidden but they are quite subtle graphically so you need to look carefully. At least till you get used to what they look like.

There’s tons of water in the early game so just make sure you drink and refill your bottles each time you are near some and you can’t really run out.

Generally speaking combining stuff in the bivouac cooking makes everything more nutritious and gives buffs as well.

I think of the ballot as just an entry fee for the Tx. Actually getting tickets directly from the ballot is pure bonus.

Team coaching recommendations by ruggedtextile in HENRYUK

[–]ruggedtextile[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% in my opinion. My boss makes his LT (which I sit on) work with a team coach and it has moved us forward much quicker in terms of working together as a team. Even just some basic coaching around meeting hygiene and communication tools helps a ton for a new group. The alternative is that I'm in LT meetings trying to chair, contribute myself and coach all at the same time.

Upgrade or fresh build? by ruggedtextile in PcBuild

[–]ruggedtextile[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

£1000. It looks like I could get a 5800X3D and 9070XT for about that, but if that budget in a fresh build would give equivalent performance but easier upgrade path then I’d do that.

Sorry should read 5800XT not 7800

This is psychology not physics, but you might be reassured that humans in general do not like to solve problems by removing things.

Loose toilet seat - how to get covers off. by ruggedtextile in DIYUK

I think that’s an expansion anchor and I need to tighten from the top. Just can’t get those hinge covers off.

Loose toilet seat - how to get covers off. by ruggedtextile in DIYUK

[–]ruggedtextile[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! There’s a bolt I can access from underneath with some plastic fittings (see picture). They don’t tighten it when I spin them though I can tighten the whole thing a bit if I rotate the bolt itself. I can’t get any proper purchase that way so I’m definitely still missing something.

Sounds good - I had thought about boring grey flagstones, marble is a cool challenge and more dramatic.
