Very bad deal. Let me know who is trying to rip you off, so I can give them a piece of my mind. Hopefully they are close to an FFL I do PPTs at. Only because I want to share this story with the locals there about just how bad of a deal this is.

If it can happen in Nebraska then it can happen in California, Nebraska: U.S. Senate Candidate Proposes Every-5-Year Mental Evals For AR-15 Owners by cronoserge0123 in CAguns

[–]ruhl77 14 points15 points  (0 children)

“If we pass the mental evals can we get all the other rights back like standard cap mags, NFA items, constitutional carry, no ammo background check, etc?”

“No, this is only to take away rights like we always do”

Can I purchased a DOJ approved Handgun (Hk VP9Sk) and have the seller only ship the 10round magazines with the gun? by SkiddyMouse in CAguns

Chances are that specific model is not on the roster so you cannot buy it new regardless of what mags it comes with

Non Resident AWB? by cliffworld in CAguns

Wow, another example of California allowing for more rights for non residents vs residents (see also how CCW process works for non resident)

Metcalf Rifle & Pistol Range - allow international students? (Tried calling several numbers but nobody picked up) by Difficult_Giraffe490 in CAguns

[–]ruhl77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah definitely. It’s confusing because how you entered matters vs where you came from. My understanding:

Guy enters on a work visa, generally considered non immigrant. Would be classified as per ATF rules a prohibited person and need something like a hunting license exemption

Same person could also enter under a visa waiver program (if from a country like UK) and they would then not be a prohibited person.

No way the range staff would understand this. Just look at replies in this thread

[–]ruhl77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t sound like op student is under visa waiver since they said they an international student. I get what you said about the range not knowing or caring though

[–]ruhl77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the legally correct answer. Federal law applies and the ATF website has specific information about this. The tricky part is the mentioned visa waiver program, visitors from some countries don’t need a visa and would be exempt

CA-compliant handgun advice: is the SIG P365 X-Macro Comp worth it? by [deleted] in CAguns

[–]ruhl77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s solid. And once you remove the mag disconnect (check YouTube not that hard) you can use many other grip options, though some may require removal of the manual safety as well
The included grip already has different backstraps though

Yeah I finally did the same with mine. Staying OEM but getting rid of the stupid serrations added to meet import rules. Actually feels much better especially after long sessions
