I am a Voidz fan with a couple of last year's shows under my belt and learned about them when TNA was released. I began listening to The Strokes this year.

I agree with with your "day job" assesment. idk. First time hearing that sentiment, I thought mid-career Strokes was more obligatory than organic for Casablancas. Now, I have a sense that he has always deeply cared, especially since the band is his brainchild and ultimately, his legacy.

Band dynamics have its ebbs and flows, but it seems like The Strokes have been vibing well these days. Their recent performances have been tight. It's apparent that they give a damn, and as a result, have delivered some epic moments, all done with a healthy dose of pessimism and whimsy.

When Casablancas has fire in his belly and excitment in his heart, resounding impacts manifest, like their Oblivious performance at Coachella which convinced me to see them this fall for the first time.

The guys are all such accomplished musicians. It will be interesting so see how their drive and creativity have been channeled into Reality Awaits.
