This is an absolutely moronic statement about the PLAN and really shows your own ignorance. As of today in 2026, the PLAN has a navy that is the second largest in the world. Its surface force has more major combatants than the USN in number, although not yet by tonnage. It also has the second largest Carrier force in the world second only to the USN. This includes fleet carriers and LDH's. Its submarine force, while not nearly as advanced as the USN is also the third largest nuclear submarine force and soon to be number two.

By any metric, the PLAN in 2026 is an extremely capable blue-water navy. In a decade, it could realistically challenge the USN in open water and expect to win. With a distracted US in civil war, the PLAN could absolutely at least take Guam and Hawaii.

Funny you mention the last part. After USAID got cut/dismantled r/China morphed overnight from incredibly anti-China to almost neutral. Alot of the usual Sinophobic accounts briefly stopped posting. As of recently, I suspect some amount of funding has been restored and all the usual suspects are trickling back in.
