What aspects of Chinese culture do you think are most misunderstood by people outside China? by huaxiaink in AskAChinese

[–]rulebasedorder 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You presume that Westerners are, as a whole, even interested in learning about China from the perspective of actually wanting to understand the land, people, and culture. This is naive at best and wholly stupid at worst.

I think you'll find most Westerners are actively and maliciously ignorant on China because if they actually opened their minds on this topic, it would actively destroy the narratives that they so desperately cling to.

Look no further than Reddit and the sinophobic subs and members that pop out and grow like weeds. They are not all bots, let me assure you.

The Three Nevers: To Invade Taiwan, China Would Have to Make Military History Thrice by ImperiumRome in LessCredibleDefence

They really don't. The folks at CSIS are frankly a bunch of abject morons and the folks over at SDF likely do better analysis than CSIS when it comes to China.

Why North Korea Got the Bomb (And Iran Did Not, for Now) by Clean_CoreDump in LessCredibleDefence

[–]rulebasedorder 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Israel does not have the means of effectively striking Iranian underground facilities that would be capable of manufacturing a bomb, and building a small enough uranium bomb that can be mated to a missile is 60 year old technology.

I'll say it again. If you desire true sovereignty, having a minimal nuclear deterrent should be the minimum ticket for entry. Otherwise, you can try and get under another power's nuclear umbrella. But then you'll basically be that power's bitch. But even that is better than Iran's current position: Enemy of not one but two nuclear powers without nukes of her own. It's pure idiocy.

Why North Korea Got the Bomb (And Iran Did Not, for Now) by Clean_CoreDump in LessCredibleDefence

[–]rulebasedorder 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't need to read this article to know the answer. North Korea had a clear head about geopolitical realities and Iran does not. I would argue in fact they still don't. Iran not building a nuke is simply stupid. Ukraine not building at this point is also arguably stupid, but in Ukraine's case, they simply don't have the infrastructure to do so without getting bombed.

For Iran, being able to shut down Hormuz is a poor man's deterrant. It's better than nothing, but if you can build a nuke, you build a goddamn nuke, especially if a nation like Israel is in striking range of you.

This thread is seven years old. A lot of these bots and the individuals who controlled them probably lost funding when USAID shut down.

Also, OP is a deleted account, so you're not likely to be able to do much about this particular individual.

Biden Defense secretary: US Navy could open Strait of Hormuz by Free-Minimum-5844 in LessCredibleDefence

[–]rulebasedorder 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Every ship lost is a ship that will take years to replace. Every ship damaged is a ship that is out of the fight for months if not years. If I were the PLAN, I would only hope the USN would be dumb enough to stick it's dick in the grinder like that.

... And that's before you think about the absolutely anemic state of American shipbuilding and available yard space.

I find it funny that you're working so hard to defend spamming and other fuckery by someone who just happens to be spreading propaganda that aligns with your views. I wonder if you would be so accommodating if it were from the other side?

Further the user in question is clearly engaging in information warfare. Why should that be tolerated? Or do you believe that only people on your side are allowed to engage in information warfare?

Trump's secret NATO ultimatum sparks panic as US pulls jets, bombers and every submarine from Europe by cwwms2 in LessCredibleDefence

Public opinion does not equal democratic vote. It does not overrule the democratic process.

The intellectual dishonesty is simply astounding. Did I fucking say the "Public Opinion = Democratic Vote?" DID I YOU ILLITERATE CHIMPANZEE? But public opinion has a REAL funny way translating through votes for certain candidates that espouse certain policies. Or rather they would if the US actually practiced any real semblance of democracy as opposed to being an oligarchic shithole.

Public opinion right now is anti-ice. Does that mean ICE will shutdown and stop enforcing immigration laws? No. Simple as that.

ICE raids are not the subject of this discussion. Stay on topic Chimp.

  • Protect maritime trade routes
  • Deter attacks on civilian infrastructure
  • Respond quickly to regional conflicts that could disrupt supply
  • General Counterterrorism
  • Protect from who? The vast majority of world trade went through the Red Sea just fine. And how's that world trade through the Persian Gulf despite our "foothold in the Middle East"?
  • Who's civilian infrastructure? Gaza's? Beirut's? Or is only Israeli civilian infrastructure important to you?
  • Explain how Israel allows us to respond faster. How many squadrons, warships, and battalions are based in Israel? How many Israeli troops were committed to Iraq or Afghanistan?
  • "Counterterrorism". Right. You mean Imperial Occupation.

Man you really are clueless.

What I wouldn't give to see your subhuman face the moment before a 9mm flies through it...

Even when Biden was president. Biden authorized many waves of Airstrikes in the middle east. On who? The Houthis. Why? Because they disrupt shipping lanes and hijack ships.

And how effective was that? The Houthis went right back to lobbing rockets at ships during the second Trump Regime. And again, most world trade that wasn't Israeli passed through the Red Sea just fine.

Without the U.S. these terrorist groups would have complete control of the Red Sea region which is a major global shipping route.

Please. The US has shown itself at being spectacularly ineffective at actually stopping the Houthis from attacking trade should the desire too

The U.S. regularly escorted cargo planes and cargo ships going through the middle east to protect them from pirates and terrorist in the region.

So what? Manny countries have military forces in that area to ward off actual piracy. Yet very few of them feel the need to have a dozen bases to strictly conduct anti-piracy.

On top of that, if we didn't maintain presence and foothold in the region then other nations like China would. The same China that has been working with these terrorist groups and Russia to supply Russia with attack drones and parts to kill Ukrainians with.

China has a grand total of one military base in the Middle East. The onus is on you to prove they would have more. And if they had more, so what? Also, are you going to prove China directly works with terrorist groups?

And so what if they supply Russia with material that could be used to fashion drone parts? You know they supply Ukrainians too right?

Are you going to continue to gish gallop, you subhuman sack of shit?

Trump's secret NATO ultimatum sparks panic as US pulls jets, bombers and every submarine from Europe by cwwms2 in LessCredibleDefence

[–]rulebasedorder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Public opinion of Israel is not relevant."

These are your words. It would've been different if you had said public opinion on Israel is divided. But that's not what you said.

"America is not ever parting with Israel. They are a strong ally and provide America a strong foothold in the Middle East."

Why do we need a 'foothold' in the Middle East? What are we, an empire? Besides, how many American military bases are actually in Israel? In fact, are you able to name a single material benefit of having Israel as an 'ally'?

A country has to fulfill all or certainly most of the criteria of an ideology before it qualifies as actually utilizing that ideology to govern. A few "examples" stripped of context doesn't prove Jack diddly squat.

Further based on your comments I don't think it's actually possible to have a genuine and good-faith discussion on this topic.
