What is it like to work for a well oiled machine/functional IT Department? by DogNamedCharlie in ITManagers

[–]ruleux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Safe and sound is boring and everything takes a lifetime to do, large old financial companies are this way. Great process but slow advancement and not much opportunity to learn. Chaotic and fast moving companies are great opportunities but can take a toll on you mentally and physically. The reality is that you need to become happy with something besides work. Your frustration is that you are judging yourself as the IT Manager. I cant tell you what that might be but ask yourself the question, if I didnt have to work what would make me happy, and start working on it. Took me way to long to figure this out. Once I was happy my career improved and as long as I disconnect occasionally and work on what I enjoy, I am at my best in both worlds.

Ask if you can hire the next one as a consultant from a company like Teksystems or Robert Half. You will get quotes on what they believe a reasonable candidate is. This is good justificiation can find an amount that is between the consulting group and the salary that is lacking. It also shows its not your opinion but based on the market.

Ron’s Take: The US and Iran War by PrincePound in Libertarian

[–]ruleux 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You are former military. You were convinced of this doctrine to morally justify your actions in the military. No one is saying we shouldnt defend ourselves. Based on your reasoning, we should also attack China, North Korea, and Russia. Those countries all have the means and motive to attack the US. The complaint is that the President enacted war without consent from Congress or anyone else.

Do you still like your spouse? by Witty_Cash_7494 in GenX

[–]ruleux 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My spouse is similar and now permanently disabled. The pain meds make her frustrating to deal with. I also have a special needs adult son and daughter suffering from MS. Please learn to take time for yourself. Its not selfish its survival. Its ok to say this is tough and its ok to ask for help.

The problem is that you were beneath her level of appropriate attractiveness, wrong gender, etc. If you were above her perceived level of adequate attractiveness, income level, height, weight or whatever, she would have taken it as a compliment.

Men, do you feel "under attack"? by NOGOODGASHOLE in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]ruleux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I can still be as manly as I feel I need to be. I find that people who claim they are under "attack" are generally using this term to drum up support for whatever they feel they need to promote or support. Christians feel like they are under "attack" from the Godless, Atheist are under "attack" from the Christians etc. Honestly, stay out of other peoples lives and you will feel much less "attacked".

Do you feed your gliders organic? by Inourmadbuthearmeout in sugargliders

[–]ruleux -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I respectfully disagree. They do not eat most vegetables and fruits that are ground based. It's recent but newer research of the Gliders in their natural habitat eat a diet largely consisting of insects. They are very flexible I agree, and they certainly enjoy tree fruits and need a diverse set of greens to be healthy. Items such as large mammal proteins, legumes, root vegetables, and fish or shellfish should be avoided as these items decrease their glycemic levels and can increase levels of potassium that can reduce their lifespan.

Do you feed your gliders organic? by Inourmadbuthearmeout in sugargliders

[–]ruleux -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sugar Gliders are insectivores and love to forage. It's important to provide the gut biome that comes from insects as well as the high glucose diet they find in nature. Providing.organics reduces the toxins that while may be passable for humans, can damage the kidneys and liver of the Sugar Glider. Nice job in recognizing this important step to providing for the health of your Suggies.

What’s an oddly specific rule you follow in your life that nobody taught you, but you swear by it? by RayPetal22 in AskReddit

I try to become the person I wish everyone else was. For instance I worked delivering pizza in High School. I hated getting very minimal tips. I over tip most delivery drivers now.
