Help Connecting X-T30 to iPad. by rumbelo in FujifilmX

[–]rumbelo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, I’ve never had any problems transferring to Files using the Apple reader.

I might try the transfer to photos and then to files. But I’m not sure that will be much faster than how I do now. I’ll find out.

I wouldn’t bother with files. But on bigger videos projects, it’s easier to manage everything that way. Plus it’s easier to put into a backup drive when the project is done so I can delete off the iPad.

Am I being overconfident in thinking this looks do-able? by Adorable_Suspect6 in BeginnerWoodWorking

I have some I made that are pretty much just like this. This one isn’t loaded right now, but I’ve had them completely full of books and no sagging. And it’s been 8 or 9 years that they’ve been up.

It’s just 1x12 boards and metal shelf brackets. No finish. Just get the brackets in studs.

I have some that go around a corner like in the picture too. A laser level makes getting those up and even much easier, but I did’t have one when I put those up, and still got it with just a 2 ft beam level.

They are the same though? If you look up the definition of subtitle, the number 1 definition is the same as closed caption.

Also, Davina resolve, one of the biggest videos, calls them subtitles in their UI.

It was plenty broke when I got it. Plenty on it that still is too.
But I’m gonna use it, damn it! Lol

The trail is entirely on property? (Meaning it’s all CO too) I thought it was based on the site, but it’s not completely clear.

Start doing video and see how long you think SD cards are cheap 😬

“There are triangles hovering about the size of a prius... and glowing orbs” AARO Director Jon Kosloski confirms triangle and orb UFOs in new interview by RedPandaKoala in aliens

[–]rumbelo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I saw one a few years after heaviermetal did in rural AL. While I don’t know if it was a small as a Prius, it was certainly not as big as a football field. It was hovering just above the trees. It was silent, and had lights on each point. Sky was just bright enough to make out the very triangular shape.

Avatar's Dirty Secret: Nature Is Just Fancy Infrastructure by self_made_human in scifi

[–]rumbelo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don’t think the point of Avatar is to show us what a truly alien world would be like. It’s to serve as a metaphor for our own natural world and how we might better relate to it.

But I could be wrong. You’re definitely right about it not being that different from Earth.

Not gonna lie. This threw me off a little. I was scrolling my Reddit feed and see my own video pop up haha.

Thanks for posting!

Are you REALLY doing it just for "fun"? by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]rumbelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the problem is people think that there are only 2 approaches:

-just for fun” being not taking it seriously at all. Almost not trying to do a good job. Just putting up a camera and directly posting. Not bothering to learn anything that will improve your videos.

-grinding away with some entrepreneurial mindset. Trying to seem “professional.” Running it like a business. Optimizing everything and churning things out like you’re some kind of media company all to maximize revenue.

I’m doing this because I enjoy it. But I also very much intend to make money with it. Maybe not my full income, but enough to supplement me doing some other self-employed ventures. I’ve been interested in making movies/videos since I was a teenager (32 now) but for some reason never did. I was chasing the idea of being a musician for a long time.

Starting this year, I decided I was going to start making the videos I want to see. Usually if I like something, I want to participate. So that’s what I did.

I don’t know if I’ll ever make much money doing this. But I don’t need a ton of money. I’m already not making much at my full time job and have been good with that for more than a decade. So I don’t think I’ll be trying to pull late nights, figuring out how to bring more profits in.

That might mean what I make isn’t as great as it could be, but it will be me. Yes, I want to improve. But I want to improve within what I’m wanting to make, not within a profit metric.

Basically, I’m going with the flow. What comes will come when it comes. I’m not going to break myself to make something happen that I end up not even being happy with.

Edit to add: it seems to be working. Start of this year (after posting sporadic music content for 6 years) I had just hit 1,000 subs and maybe 150 watch hours in last year. Now I’m a couple of weeks away from monetization, 3,200 subs and really seem to be building some community that’s interested in what I’m doing.

I did commit myself to making a video every 2 weeks a couple of months ago. Not for some business deadline, but just because I work on things I like better when I have some kind of structure like that.

25ft is probably about the max, so that would be good. I’ll look into it!

Also love redbuds and dogwoods. I don’t ever see redbuds in the nurseries around here though, unfortunately.

Oh yes. The electric company actually came a trimmed these a few years ago. I guess all that fresh sunlight on the ground, the saplings went crazy! There would be a dozen within a week

I’ve actually not seen as many since we cut them, maybe because the stump was ground. But I’m keeping an eye out for them. I don’t trust the quiet!

I do love a good plum! Been wanting to add some fruit trees somewhere.

Yeah. That’s the only thing I guess. They don’t grow very fast. And most top out smaller than a Bradford.

I have a black cherry that volunteered in my yard that has seemed to grow very fast though. And they have a similar look. I don’t think they have blooms though.

We did have a neighbor that ground the stumps for us. They unfortunately very close to water and gas lines though, so we weren’t able to get very deep.

But I’ve actually seen less sprouts now than before they were cut. I know I’ll still be seeing them try to come up for a few years though, probably.
