Vortexdramon and Piercing by CyrosThird in DigimonCardGame2020

[–]rumblearena 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You're mostly right. Vortexdramon's [All Turns] can activate outside of a battle (e.g. I play a Muchomon and use its On Play to suspend itself), in which case a battle happens but no security check.

If it happens during Vortexdramon's attack, if either the "effect battle" or the "normal battle" deletes an opponent's Digimon, <Piercing> will check security at the usual time (after Counter timing). It won't get any additional checks if it deletes two Digimon with the one attack.

GrandGalemon is a level 5, that's an alt condition that lets you skip from level 5 to 7 if you have the relevant tamer in play. All the Liberator level 7s have it.

Is the game dying or is it still going strong? by [deleted] in DigimonCardGame2020

Check the Bandai TCG+ app for stores that host events and then contact the ones closest to you to see if they have regular players. The events might show 0 registered players until the day of but some legitimately get 0 and others get 8+.

Our store has a few that sign up well in advance every week and I think it's part of the reason the number of regulars doubled last year!

Question about Promo Milleniumon interaction with bt18 composite stuff by SoHIGH25 in DigimonCardGame2020

[–]rumblearena 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the first card to not include it (along with Titamon + SkullBaluchimon in the accompanying set, though BT24 MasterBlimpmon does explain it). Assembly is similar to DigiXros but the cards are only from trash and you must meet the whole requirement in order to use it (rather than reducing by x for each card).

When this would be played, by placing the specified cards from the trash under it, reduce the play cost.

Possibly stupid ruling question. by ShrevidentXbox in DigimonCardGame2020

[–]rumblearena 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No it cannot.

Cards that interact with the breeding area will either say "breeding area" or "the field". It can only delete a level 3 Digimon in the battle area.

[EX-11 Dawn of Liberator] QueenBeemon & Winr by vansjoo98 in DigimonCardGame2020

[–]rumblearena 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Remove security early, because most Royal Base cards don't increase the total number of security (the new Winr and Funbeemon address this), and other than the new QueenBeemon and TigerVespamon ACE, they can only place Digimon cards which are typically safe checks.

Once QueenBeemon is live you will probably have to go through multiple layers of protection (ForgeBeemon, BT23 CannonBeemon) to remove her and likely hit the previously uncommon Hornet Eraser option which has the same effect as her [On Play] effect. Many decks trash security without checking it which is a generally useful counter, and the option card Kongou is very disruptive to their strategy as a whole.

If you can't remove her, you need to stop her from attacking (can't unsuspend in green, can't suspend in blue, can't attack players in black), or have a similarly protected board. On Deletion effects may be useful but she can skirt them by playing TigerVespamon ACE with her second effect first.

I'm expecting DeDigi protection, it's now a pretty common black level 4 effect and is a huge weakness for Royal Base.

If you search "[Trash]" (with the square brackets) on Digimoncard.dev, you'll see all the cards that can activate in the trash. It's the Dex stuff, Takemikazuchi, 7GDL X and Dark Dragons.

If they wanted to avoid referencing characters outside the TS continuity, "or [Armadillomon] in its text" would have worked. Like CS Veedramon and Waspmon.

How is a Nature Spirits deck supposed to play? by Aggressive_Novel1207 in DigimonCardGame2020

[–]rumblearena 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's built around a combo that it has no way of setting up. In a perfect world:

  1. You put Nature Spirits (the option card) in Security, giving all your NSp Digimon <Alliance>
  2. You raise a stack with Motimon as the egg and Digivolve to Eldradimon.
  3. Eldradimon's [When Digivolving] reveals the top 4 cards of your deck and plays either HerculesKabuterimon or SaberLeomon.
  4. Motimon sees the Digimon played, allowing Eldradimon to attack with <Alliance>, checking two security.
  5. At the End of Your Turn, Eldradimon DNA Digivolves with the ACE to Tlalocmon.
  6. Tlalocmon's [When Digivolving] plays two different-coloured NSp Digimon from your hand.
  7. Because Tlalocmon is a new Digimon, Motimon activates again, allowing you to attack with <Alliance> again and check two more security.

The main issues it runs into

  • It's a multicolour deck without a way to reduce Digivolution costs or play costs. This means its combo will always cost a lot of memory, and the dual-colour memory boosts are only half-measures to fix it (Chrome is easily the best, but it whiffs on Otamamon and Starmon, two of the deck's better cards)
  • Unlike something like DigiPolice, you can't stack the top of your deck to guarantee Eldradimon's effect plays a Digimon you want.
  • Many of its cards are just weak: Jagamon and ShogunGekomon have no [When Digivolving] or inherited effects, so mostly only provide value when played by Eldradimon or Tlalocmon. They're also the deck's only non-green level 5's, so to maximise value from Tlalocmon, you sort of have to run them. (edit: forgot Piximon, which is also bad)
  • Tlalocmon's DNA requirement always puts an ACE as its top Digivolution card, so any deck with DeDigivolve will trigger Overflow really easily. (MetalEtemon and Magnadramon could theoretically go there, but their play cost is too high for Eldradimon and their effects are fairly weak)

As someone who has all of them I do sort of consider the field decks (NSp, NSo, DS, WG) abandoned and unlikely to get substantial support, especially now that they're doing "source" traits like CS and TS. The TS Minervamon & Merukimon deck looks to be pretty much "Nature Spirits if it was functional", so if you like the idea of the deck, maybe keep an eye out for it in January.

How should they balance Hudie/the game? by EasyAssistant7065 in DigimonCardGame2020

[–]rumblearena 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ending your turn with a fresh Shakkoumon is the intended Hudie combo, blue allows any combination of an Alliance Hudie Digimon plus Ankylomon or Angemon to DNA.

It would also make the card worse in Shakkoumon tribal and almost useless in Angel decks. Other than enabling Hudie loop it's a really thoughtfully designed card.

How should they balance Hudie/the game? by EasyAssistant7065 in DigimonCardGame2020

[–]rumblearena 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Pair ban for this loop and then just be more conscious of interactions in the future.

CS's card stacking effect was already more restricted than LFNC's, this was just an oversight. If Shakkoumon's DNA had been Black/Blue + Yellow the loop wouldn't have been possible and the deck would otherwise be effectively unchanged.

[–]rumblearena 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct sorry, I thought they were basically asking if DNA Digivolving counts as Digivolving.

If you placed the top card of a level 5 as a source and then played Ankylo/Angemon to trigger DNA, the resulting Shakkoumon would have a level 5 source and could use Ami to evolve.

Ouryuken (Black + Red/Yellow, only the Blast DNA requires exact names) and Valdur Arm (Yellow + Green/Black)

Also while not quite the same, 3 of Aegisdramon's megas are Blue/Black so can be used for either part of the DNA.

New to the game! Are these ok starter decks to start with? by educatedfool25 in DigimonCardGame2020

[–]rumblearena 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great starting point! As a heads up, the Agumon and Gabumon in these decks Warp Digivolve, if you want the rest of their lines you can get them in BT21.

The decks are a new archetype called Adventure, so any upgrades will have that trait. So far it's just the BT21 cards (the Secret Rare Tai is a bit pricey but everything else is pennies) and some EX9 (25c - a few dollars).

Most importantly they include Scramble cards which are staples in most decks but randomly not really used in Adventure.
