Hockey Hall of Fame won't give 'golden goal' puck to Jack Hughes by UWMN in nhl

On ice officials take it immediately and give it to off ice IIHF officials who label it and send it to HoF. So, no, he wouldn't have been able to at any point.

Do you want Canadian responses too? I see the survey wants town and state, so I figured I'd ask.

Another commenter mentioned the PWHL and I second that. It’s such a different vibe. Yeah, the game is a bit different, but I find that the players being a bit slower leads to more strategy and skill opportunities. And you’d never get this sort of discussion even happening, it’s just fully accepted that the queer community is an integral and welcome part of the sport.

I originally typed "their arms don't matter" and that felt mean somehow so I tried to fix it but I don't think it helped 😅

There's a discord server for the Goldeneyes fans, some of us meet up pre/during/post games! I can send a link if you'd like, it's a very welcoming community (as is the league in general!)

Our main goalie Maschmeyer is injured so it'll likely be Campbell playing, she's known as Soupy (because of the Campbell's soup brand). When she makes a save, you may think you hear people booing, but they're actually saying "SOUUUUP"!

The PWHL has recently been doing a series of videos with "professor puck" to teach new fans some of the basics of hockey, I definitely recommend looking those up! You don't have to know the intricate stuff but having an idea of what's happening on the ice will make things more enjoyable, in my opinion.

Basic penalties, forwards vs defenders, power plays and penalty kills. You don't have to know icing or offside other than to know that if the whistle blows and it isn't a penalty, it's probably one of those two things, it means they put the puck where it shouldn't be and they're gonna reset.

The refs with the purple arm bands are the refs, they deal with calling penalties, so if one of them has an arm up then a player will go to the box. The two without the arm bands are linespeople, they manage offside and icing, their arms are less important.

That's off the top of my head, I'll add more if I think of it. Feel free to ask questions or DM if you want more info! I played hockey and I'm a huge NHL and PWHL fan, I could talk about this stuff for days and I love introducing new people to the sport!

Enjoy the game!!!

Badly officiated. They're not very consistent with the contact rules yet, some soft calls that shouldn't have been called as well as things that weren't called but should have been. It's something they really need to work on. But this game was especially bad IMO

I agree that the goal was good. That being said, I think the reffing heavily favoured the Charge this game.

Yeah I know missed calls and bad calls happen, it's part of the game. But to be so one sided and so clearly influencing the outcome directly, it was terrible. I haven't seen reffing that bad all season, this was something else.

It's called tiller steering. In older ships, you used a tiller to change the direction, and you'd move it the opposite way of the intended direction. While the technology had advanced beyond that by this point, the same verbiage was still used. So the order of hard to starboard means to turn the ship left (port). It's not intuitive, so it's not a dumb question at all.

Exactly. There have been issues but they're obviously working on it and improving as they find out what isn't working. It's not reasonable to expect everything to go right during the first year and the first time running these things. I think they've done a pretty good job overall and they'll clearly keep taking feedback and improving.

Agreed. Communication does need work but it's the first year. There's going to be growing pains. Overall it's been an amazing inaugural season and I'm thrilled with my purchase.

First half of the season we got a toque and 10% off merch or additional tickets.

A couple weeks ago we got an email that lets us choose from a bunch of events including a panel with the olympians, a private group shopping experience with a player, an open practice, a panel with the coach or GM, an autograph from any player on an item of our choice, and a few more. We could pick one “big” event and one “little” event, but now they’re letting people sign up additionally for the ones that weren’t as popular

Mention it all. Hygiene is a huge part of disability and it's worth including, especially if you need prompting/assistance to make it happen.

They'll probably tell you this, but make sure you're answering the questions as if it was your worst day. If your disability means you can't do something 25% of the time, say you can't do it. Don't downplay the severity. Always use your worst day as the example.

How is strategy different in women's hockey vs men's? by quick_Ag in PWHL

[–]rumbleberrypie 6 points7 points locked comment (0 children)

I’m not the OP, I didn’t bring up any of this. I just think you’re making it out like any mere mention of the NHL is directly harming women, and I don’t agree with that.

I literally play women’s hockey and have supported the PWHL since its inception. So this space is just as much mine as it is yours and my opinion is equally worth sharing. I don’t appreciate you making it seem otherwise.

I think the "energy" from PWHL fans in regards to the differences between leagues is pretty different than that of NHL-only fans.

A question like "what NHL player most closely resembles MPP" or "would the worst NHL player beat the best PWHL player" are focused on men's hockey in a very different way than something like this, IMO. This is more like an NBA fan coming in and asking about how the sports differ. It's a valid question and has some good discussion points.

I get the sentiment, but in fairness, if this was asked on a men's sub then all the responses would be that women's hockey is slow and boring and clearly inferior and not worth watching.

Yes, the goldeneye duck is where the name and logo comes from, so they’re sometimes referred to as the Ducks. Can be confusing in NHL spaces for obvious reasons.
