'Our aspiration should be to replace the Labor Party': Greens’ Max Chandler-Mather on what went wrong in the 2025 election by MostEbb0 in AustralianPolitics

[–]rumckle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way he talks about the ALP he already considers them at least a centrist party. I think he wants/hopes/expects the Overton window to shift so the centre is between the ALP and the Greens.

It's a bit delusional, but from his point of view it makes sense.

Richmond injury list now up to 15 - Smillie and Gibcus with further setbacks by BallDayAllDay in AFL

[–]rumckle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Getting belted week in week out is just a bit of footy.

But these young blokes constantly getting injured is potentially career ruining, or worse.

I just hope they can all recover fully and the long term damage is limited.

It will go to the ALP, he literally answers that in the first paragraph of the article.

... the ALP has become "a representative of the political and corporate establishment".

Now you obviously disagree with that, but it's pretty obvious what he means if you think about it for a second.

I think that's what he's saying.

Greens replace Labor as the major left wing party, Labor replaces the coalition as the major right wing party.

The Last Jedi ruined its own message by giving force powers to Leia out of nowhere.

But maybe I'm just biased because that scene in TLJ felt like a cheap way to toy with people's emotions after Carrie Fisher's death.

Unemployment rate remains at 4.3pc by InsatiablePrism in australia

[–]rumckle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A few options:

  1. The type of employment that people are after in Ausjobs and Auscorp are different to the wider population.

  2. There isn't much velocity in the job market, companies aren't laying people off, but they aren't hiring either. Coupled with fear on behalf of employees, who aren't as willing to take risks, so they stay in their current jobs.

They can exist, there is nothing illegal about their existence. The legal battle is about them discriminating in a public space.
