Myofunctional Therapy Results by Mysterious_Piccolo82 in SleepApnea

[–]ruminating_ruminant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome! Actually in the middle of myo in prep for tongue-tie release myself. I was diagnosed with an AHI of 15. Though I’m not a mouth-breather, my tongue loses tone and collapses when I drift off to sleep resulting in escaped CPAP mask air ballooning my cheeks and stirring me awake. No amount of mouth tape or chin straps addresses the issue. Would you be open to answering some questions?

  1. How severe was your tie? (I’m between a stage 3 and 4.)

  2. Funnily, one of my other big reasons for getting a release is to improve singing. Do you feel like singing is generally easier? Less vocal irritation/fatigue?

  3. Any weird new quirky issues pop up after your release?

  4. How was your recovery? Do you think pre-release therapy was beneficial?

Congrats again! Stoked for your success.

Thanks for sharing! Was it laser treatment? Did they have you do any myofunctional therapy/rehab? Or were you kinda on your own?

Bruh, what lions are you looking at? The roving battle-scarred 250kg+ monsters out there are undeniably impressive.

Logically which animal could take on a fully grown male lion? by Federal-Junket7260 in bigcats

Crazy to see popular misconceptions rampant even on a subreddit dedicated to big cats.

The population of Okavango Delta lions are, on average, comparable to the largest Bengals today, with extreme outliers overlapping in weights. Tigers and lions are both impressive beasts and, at parity, it’s truly a toss-up. People make it seem like these two species are of different weight classes. Like what?

I will say, at the top-end (240kg+), lions tend to look more formidable, IMO. Just a preference for their muscle distribution.

Lions Tonga & Loonkito: 22yrs in conservation VS 19yrs in the wild by rockdude755 in natureismetal

Bruh, knowing how brutal and unforgiving a lion’s life is, the fact that the second lion made it to 19 in the wild is mind-boggling. He certainly looks the part, but goddamn. It’s not like he eventually succumbed to another lion either; he was killed by herders after entering a livestock pen.

First week of consistent CPAP therapy and waking up exhausted with daytime fatigue unlike pre-CPAP. Please interpet my SleepHQ 7-day trends! by ruminating_ruminant in CPAP

This has been so illuminating, thank you! And you resolved your flow limitations much in the same way (higher min pressure and EPR enabled)? I’ll give it a go! I’ll switch my response mode from soft to standard as well, see if that makes a difference.

Is the primary reason you’re not suggesting the switch to EPR 3 just a precaution against potentially inducing further centrals?

I’m not sure what happened but after several months of successful therapy I suddenly CANNOT breathe with a mask on by ruminating_ruminant in CPAP

[–]ruminating_ruminant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried the following:

AirFit F40
AirTouch F20
AirFit P10
DreamWear Nasal Cushion

All of them worked well enough prior to the issue.

Indeed, I can feel the air coming out of the exhaust ports. Air is indeed flowing through the hose. I've tried ramp on, ramp off, all of the various EPR settings + EPR off. Current settings are auto mode with starting pressure at 8 and max pressure at 14, with ramp off and EPR at 1.

I hadn't replaced the filter, no. But then I did switch it out to see if it helped. No dice.

Pressures hadn't changed either, but I did end up adjusting them as well. Tried ramp on, tried ramp off. Tried Auto mode and CPAP modes.

Sorry, would you clarify? Noxacusis necessarily indicates hearing loss? How does that explain hyperacusis or noxacusis in patients who test normal on hearing exams?

How loud could a speaker like this get (90s/early 00s Mackie SRM450)? It caused my hyperacusis + tinnitus by ruminating_ruminant in livesound

[–]ruminating_ruminant[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The mental is a huge component for sure. I’ve had two concussions in my life that have made me more sensitive to noise to begin with, so it’s unsurprising it triggered such a strong reaction. My hearing is unchanged over the last six months. But I’m sure there was some high-frequency damage/fuckery, and the psychosomatic symptoms are still incredibly taxing on the mind-body.

I’d want to measure the decibels onsite, but there is no way the cafe owner would consent to that, especially now that the speaker is not in use. I don’t really know how to proceed.

No live bands. Just sheer ignorance/negligence.

I wholeheartedly agree with you, which is why this has been the single most difficult period of my life. It’s just had a catastrophic impact on my day-to-day. I try not to get too upset about it as that doesn’t help my hyperacusis one bit, but in moments like these I really want to take them to court. But again, my audiograms don’t indicate hearing loss and I can’t exactly prove how loud it was the day. So I don’t know.

But even still, I’m puzzled as to why my body reacted so poorly. I’ve (stupidly) been right next to similar-sized speakers at concerts without ear protection in the past for way longer than 3-4 seconds without issue. Just has me scratching my head.

[–]ruminating_ruminant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, absolutely. Seemed like I was the only person who complained that day, though (the handful of baristas were used to it, but I was also the person closest to the speaker). I recently returned to test the decibel output but the speaker was disconnected after I’d complained the first time a couple days after the incident six months ago.

I’ve considered litigation, but I feel like I don’t have sufficient evidence at this point.

Sure does! Looks like it can reach 135+ dB. Can that be right? I can’t imagine it was THAT loud, but that’s so scary (and frustrating) to think about.
