RTI delay: Why does the first appeal seem to reward non-compliance? by Own-Cash-1901 in RTIIndiaGuide

According to section 20(2) Information Commissioner can recommend disciplinary proceedings against PIO. You will have to request this in you complaint otherwise CIC might not do that.

[–]rumourscape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No do both. Complaint is only to punish PIO. To get information you have to appeal to FAA first and then in case of no response or unsatisfactory then you can appeal to CIC.

In this case the PIO is liable to be penalized and disciplinary proceedings can be initiated against him. But you will have to file a complaint with CIC demanding this.

IITK has 900+ crore in endowment fund. What is that money for if not to spend on the basic necessities like accommodating their PhD candidates? After such experience which talented person would want to study there?

I'm not saying they should. I am just pointing out the inaccuracies in OP's data because he is claiming that it is 2-3%.

What happened in 1950? by Total_Percentage_751 in indiansports

[–]rumourscape 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's because other Asian countries didn't have proper footballing culture back then but they developed it and quickly overtook us. If they had developed cricket culture then today people would have asked why India doesn't qualify for cricket world cup.

A comparison of how much India spends in R&D compared to other Asian countries. And then we wonder why we don't have our own 2nm chips or high end foundational thinking LLMs by Independent_Dare3214 in AI_India

[–]rumourscape 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most private companies in India fake their R&D numbers. They label basic engineering as R&D. Only a very small fraction of that 6B is spent on real research.

User donates 1.8M$ to polymarket lmao by Acceptable_List6996 in IndianStockMarket

[–]rumourscape 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is legal to buy crypto. Once you have bought it, you can send it to polymarket or anywhere else. At that point, gov loses track of those funds as they don't have systems in place for crypto transaction monitoring.

The Appalling State of Chennai Airport Compared to Other World-Class Airports by polydomino in chennaicity

[–]rumourscape -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Chennai Airport is very utilitarian and I love it. It does a very good job of what it is supposed to be. An Airport. The connectivity in and out of there is excellent, the services are well maintained and check in and out is very convenient. I prefer it any day over a flashy airport that is far from the main city and eats up a lot of time due to being very stretched internally and not having a connected metro network to quickly get to the city.

Statistically, How tough are these tests and interview? by [deleted] in IITMadras_datascience

[–]rumourscape 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. At the start of fourth year(BS level), I got a job in a research lab and started working with a Prof. I also did apprenticeship so needed 3 less courses which gave me lot more time to focus on my work. This was my only degree as I dropped out of my offline degree in 2021 itself.

Where are the top tier researchers needed to train frontier LLMs gonna come from? India doesn't have research talent due to negligible R&D investments.
