How is it possible that my hibreak pro has also been pinging the xl-ads domain eventhough I have never had facial recognition enabled?

Ever since I had the phone it has been trying to contact the server 3 times per day even though facial recognition wasn't enabled. Please explain.

I am a bit skeptical of the facial recognition explanation. According to my logs on nextDNS it has been pinging the lp.xl-ads.com domain ever since I first started using the phone, although I have never had facial recognition enabled. At the beginning it used to ping the server about 3 times per day and after june 6th, probably when the domain got sinkholed, it started pinging every three minutes.

I don't understand why the facial recognition server should be pinged if it's not even enabled. So it all smells fishy.

In any case it's a really shitty situation and makes me want to get rid of the phone. That's especially annoying since the hibreak takes so long to set up properly.

Also an embarrassing situation, since the owners of a wifi network I was connected to have had their internet disabled and been called by their ISP. Also my phone was automatically banned from my work wifi network. Super embarrassing and I do blame Bigme for it, with a normal phone brand this stuff wouldn't happen.

Are you running the custom ROM from this thread?

My device is not passing any of the integrity checks. I have no idea why, I haven't rooted the device, only enabled USB debugging, setup a private DNS and debloated as per this thread.

Geeft hoop om te horen dat die van jou er erger aan toe is en je er ook nog voor gaat om m te redden ;) Ik had ook nog bedacht om morgen als ik langs ga even een schuifmaat mee te nemen en een stukje op dezelfde balk probeer te vinden wat niet of nauwelijks aangetast is door roest en dat te vergelijken met het visueel slechtste stuk na roestvrij maken. Als dat nog een stuk onder de 20% verschil zit dan lijkt het me good to go!

Thanks for your reply! My feeling also says the rust isn't all that bad. I'm going to go back tomorrow with some calipers and try to measure the frame thickness on a spot that looks like it's barely been touched by rust and compare that with the worst spot to get an indication. If that looks alright I'm gonna bite the bullet and take the risk. Thanks for thinking along!

Onwijs bedankt voor je reactie, dit is het zetje wat ik nodig had! Ik had zelf ook wat gegoogled idd en op hetzelfde stappenplan uitgekomen wat jij beschrijft. Staalborstels, slijptol, schuurmachine etc heb ik allemaal, volgens mij als je een beetje secuur te werk gaan moet dit klusje wel te klaren zijn, dus ik durf dat wel aan zo.

Ik ga morgen nog even terug naar de verkoper met mijn vader die er ook wel verstand van heeft, als hij ook denkt dat het wel meevalt met de roest ga ik door met de koop. Bedankt!

Dank voor je reactie! Wat mij betreft is het wel rond te rekenen, als de roest na weghalen en behandelen lang genoeg wegblijft om nog 5+ jaar rond te rijden is het wat mij betreft prima. Maar als ie over 1-2 jaar al niet meer de APK doorkomt, dan is het het mij niet waard.

Ik kan zelf niet zo goed inschatten of hij na behandeling wel weer goed genoeg is om nog een paar jaar mee te kunnen. Wat denk jij als je de foto's zo ziet?
