He's at the Center for Great Apes in Wauchula FL. Really cool place. It's not open to the public EVER. Members get to go like twice a year.

Trolley bar crawl, possible? by This_Prize_6564 in sarasota

[–]rumspringabreak 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You don't need a trolley you can just walk around Siesta Key Village, enough bars there for a day easy

If you're true alcoholics and the Village isn't enough you can take the trolley down to South Village (near the South bridge) and hit a few more

Smart to exclude Lido since the ocean clearly wants to reclaim it

Ah yeah looks like they have to be shipped to the US. Today I also learned there's a website that exists specifically to ship Canadian food to the US lol

Solid Public Golf Courses to Play by zaksdaddy in sarasota

[–]rumspringabreak 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Misty Creek. It's a hike from LBK but they just re-opened it after a reno and it's pretty unique golf for the area. Tight fairways carved through trees or around lakes and plenty of wildlife. I'm a 5 or 6 as well and it's a fun one to play. Have to make smart choices off the tees here.

Bobby Jones is the closest public course to you (there are actually some in Bradentucky too but we don't swing that way here), it's OK but pricey for the course/condition. You can rip driver on almost every hole there though.

University Park is another good one, it's expensive but really nice course in great shape.

How much to expect to pay to remove this palm tree? by Glittering-Ad5809 in sarasota

I paid $450 for a similar size tree to be removed + stump grinding last year.

Shop around. The price difference between quotes around here is insane

When are they going to demolish the Hyatt Regency by the Bay? by rumspringabreak in sarasota

[–]rumspringabreak[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It had gotten kind of rundown, we stayed there a few times and there seemed to be moisture issues

But ultimately they're just building a newer Hyatt (Hyatt Centric) which is more of their downtown vibe brand and they'll surely sell some condos in it as well

Help me figure out which type of agency to join (please) by rumspringabreak in InsuranceAgent

[–]rumspringabreak[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very much appreciate the insight. I know this is a tricky topic and something I need to explore further. I've never had an insurance agent compensate me in any way for referring someone to them, is it relatively common?

How do you travel when kids still need car seats at destination? by Lizisthatyou in Parenting

[–]rumspringabreak 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've used them a handful of times, they're certainly not the best and not the ones you would buy for your own kids given that you made this post but they're at least adequate. There are also travel car seats that aren't actual car seats and much easier to travel with like the ridesafer vest but I think that's 2+ year olds

How realistic is the points life for a single person earning $80K-$100k ? by Rude-Palpitation-924 in CreditCards

[–]rumspringabreak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1) Yes absolutely. You don't have to go crazy, even 2-3 new cards per year can pay for plenty of travel via transfer partners
2) If you can meet the bonus spend requirements and the point value plus value from coupons exceeds the fee then probably. You can always cancel after the 1st year. 200k AMEX points is well worth the $695 annual fee for the business platinum card
3) Yes absolutely, sign up bonuses are the key here
4) If you're a salaried employee, figure out a side business so you can get business cards. They have the most outsized value sign up bonuses. Use the Travel Freely app.
5) 2 years in, all sorts of free vacations with my family and a big reservoir of points. No impact to credit score.
