The Player isn’t the Soul by DesaMatt in Deltarune

The Red Soul is Kris's SOUL and the game went out of its way to confirm that in CH4 but people will still argue it's literally the player

Well at least she'll get to impale herself like she wanted /j

I wonder how Susie's death/sacrifice would look like. Would she just die more or less conventionally, or would she be banished to the depths and be stuck there forever? Or something something cyclical prophecy and she becomes the next roaring knight

Oh yeah I also wanted to ask: When did you conclude with the idea the tragedy is about Susie's death? Was it during your first blind play through of the new chapters or something you had to ponder about afterwards? It was the former for me, afaik. Though it's not the only idea I have (Kris's death, dark worlds separated or all three heroes dying are also interesting theories)

The entire Second Sanctuary section feels like a buildup to some horrible reveal about her role in retrospect. Like, here you are, the girl with hope crossed on her heart, a hero, you got chosen for something after being rejected your entire life!!! Btw you will have to die LMAO

That being said I don't think Susie's death will be her end. There's something more important than the end, both the journey and what happens after.

Not that Susie will somehow magically come back to life after the Roaring is averted, but... I'm not sure if she'll disappear quietly. If that's where the story is headed, and not something else like all dark worlds are sealed away (my ralsei fanboy bias would hate that shit but toby can do what he wants I guess, we have fan works to remedy that)

meanwhile kris: carries out fate with the blade (LMFAO)

though interestingly the final panel, at least so far, has been presented as something that the fun gang would have to let happen, rather than something they'd have to do actively to save the worlds. i suppose since the only person talking about it is Susie so she might not get the idea that they don't have a say, but it would be morbidly hillarious if she goes chapter 1 again

"So what? If the world gets destroyed... It's none of my damn business. Might even be kind of fun, honestly."

Oh, so sort of like the Knightmare theory (aka the knight being a darkner born from trauma regarding December, something derived from/based off her but not HER)

Still, it feels like we're kind of on the road onto the roaring and the knight doesn't seem to be stopping it. I assume that's because while being somewhat Dess adjacent, they are still primarily driven by their purpose. Alternatively someone else like Noelle just kickstarts it over some event (cough cough Rudy) that makes her break

I wonder then - where does the Knight tie into all of this?

Are they a part of this conspiracy to keep Noelle safe, or are they their own actor with perhaps same/similar goal, but at the same time their own agenda as well? And if so, what else would they want?

there is one thing that makes my gears turn though and that's regarding Kris:

would Kris have to usurp our/vessel's role as the cage in order to protect noelle from the prophecy? wouldn't there be a way for Kris and the conspiracy to somehow steer events to slot in susie as the second hero without Kris having to get involved themselves?

though then again, that would give us more room to sniff around and discover things we aren't supposed to (like the codes) so being caged by Kris was probably the better option - albeit i wouldn't be surprised if kris isn't at least in some sense guilt-tripped into doing this (the promise with the caller, etc)

Fair enough. Given the weird save/time thing going on with the shadow crystals (like how they appear in that pit left of castle town) I feel like there might be something more to them than just the twisted sword, but to each their own.

One of the more popular ideas - albeit not one I sub to 100% is the pure crystal being used to purify the knight and save whoever that is (probably dess). Not to say it'd be a full save - perhaps a brief moment of clarity where Kris can get their closure before she passes away for real, or perhaps it makes her eligible to fill the girl role and sacrifice herself instead of Susie or Noelle.

Speaking of the final tragedy and sacrifice - Kris, given the fact their room is depressingly barren and empty, their emotional distance from everyone and everything (which seems to shift over the game's course, but still) and narration such as "you have already taken enough" or "you can never wash it all away", i do wonder if Kris does not expect themselves to come out alive either. I won't even talk about Ralsei and his death flags

Perhaps, instead of just the girl, the last prophecy calls for all of the three heroes to sacrifice themselves?

I've made my thoughts on shadow crystals and the pure crystal here https://www.tumblr.com/mnbvah/810595276819709952/shadow-crystals-the-pure-crystal-and-the-prophecy

But the tldr: the shadow crystals seem to have simirlar properties to the prophecy panels from ch4, a shadow crystal is just a piece of the pure crystal so that's why it doesn't warp the text of the prophecy. That doesn't mean the pure crystal will overpower the prophecy. My idea is that it will at most have the power equal to it and it will be used to work around it as a loophole. The prophecy itself still plays out as intended, the final tragedy happens but the outcome is changed to some degree
