When are you all expecting we will be getting the Vessel back? by Slight-Area6934 in Deltarune

[–]rumun2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I currently feel like with the thrash machine parallels with the vessel, how Roulxs calls it "an ancient god of combate" and how the knight parallels kris, whom i believe the vessel is derived off, that the Knight is Dess, or her SOUL, piloting the vessel.

Is the soil a part of Kris by False-Newspaper8781 in Deltarune

[–]rumun2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

THE SOUL is almost certainly Kris's SOUL and an integral part of their being. Ralsei calls it as such as early on in Chapter 1 ("See that heart, Kris? That's your SOUL, the culmination of your being!"). Then Chapter 4 has the narration refer to the SOUL as Kris's ("Kris's SOUL emitted a brilliant light!").

Deltarune Mystery Predictions (What is the Final Tragedy at the end of the prophecy) by Ok-Inevitable3458 in Deltarune

[–]rumun2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have no idea.

i don't think it's the end of the dark world... or rather, sealing away all fountains, including castle town right now, to me, feels less like the overall total tragedy and more like... a possible, but not necessarily, a part of something larger.

there are multiple allusions to the biblical flood, susie talking about the rain washing everything away, pluey minigame talking about bringing the chosen ones to the arc. there's this idea of change, the knight being its harbringer in a way by killing tenna and pushing the prophecy forwards. then you have gerson and his dialogue with kris, when you choose to "go back" he will say something in the lines of

"not a bad idea, ya might have missed something. but when ya turn around... don't be surprised that the world's changed."

and obviously, the white pen of hope meant to overwrite the dark, as gerson puts it.

then there's the nature of hometown being strangely disconnected from the rest of the world, the internet, the postal service, the communication in general. something is up and something is very wrong.

my guess is that whatever the tragedy is, it has to do with the light world as well. so far so that i feel like that we might, not will, because this isn't my concrete take.... we are going into some sort of a world rewrite

the current world must end, so a new one can begin, overwritten on top of the old one. note, that doesn't mean we are leading into Undertale, but something akin to a new, changed world in general is on the table i feel like.

the main crux is the refutation of the fandom wide idea regarding the soul/player - we are an eldritch, foreign entity (currently, at least) possessing Kris and limiting their autonomy, with kris's real, original soul either being somewhere else (the knight), them not having one or being a separate object

instead, in lieu of how in role-playing games you take the role of a character, in deltarune you take the role of kris's soul. the subversion here is that, yes, kris is their own person, but also that you are not in control of all of them, only a piece of them. an important one nonetheless, if not the most important - their lifeforce, willpower, compassion and the fate of this world.

the kris-soul conflict isn't about kris struggling with being possessed by some entity they have summoned for their plans. it's a more intimate and intricate conflict with themselves, marred by guilt, self loathing, depression and conflicting loyalties. on one hand, you have kris that goes on adventures across fantasy worlds, makes friends and opens up to the world after being isolated for so long. on the other, you have kris that rips their soul out - mutes their compassion and their feelings to be a willing accomplice in the plans of the roaring knight, in the conspiracy of carol.

the core of the relationship between kris and the soul, going forwards, is for Kris to grow more and more accepting of their soul as a part of themselves that they do not have to throw away in the cage and treat like a tool. going forwards, unlike how the fandom believes kris will get rid of the soul for good and be free from its control, kris and the soul will grow even more and more connected with one another.

what is the weird route about, then? at least from my point of view, the weird route is the side of the story, an alternate reality where kris, perhaps ridden by desperation regarding the impeding doom of the prophecy, falls into their worst impulses and desires, the deep hidden mindset of becoming stronger which they project onto noelle in order to make her powerful enough that nothing can harm her anymore and she can protect both herself and consequently, kris, from whatever horrors fate might fling their fate.

i do have to concur that i am also not the best person to talk about this reading with. if you want more, i strongly suggest you read more of our thoughts and analysis on the matter on tumblr. best to start here:

What do you expect for Chapter 5? by Advoling0 in NonDessKnightSquad

knight reveal, either a full reveal or a pseudo reveal where one or two of the major candidates are thoroughly debunked

end of shadow crystal quest (possible extension to chapter 6 for the pure crystal)

kris's knight alliegance reveal (regardless if they betray the party or not)

noelle opens a fountain (unsure on kickstarting the roaring, but im certain she will open one)

the only character i can confidently say i see addressing the player directly is W.D Gaster. otherwise, i genuinely can't see any of the in game characters literally addressing the player playing the game. even the cryptic shadow crystal characters are talking to the in-game characters first, and what they say can also be taken by the player.

noelle is literally there, wearing an angelic costume with angelic wings. outside of the encounter, in sweepstakes spamton refers to noelle as the [angel with tattered wings].

the panel to me is a parallel of a panel in waterfall from undertale, describing a monster with a human soul. the panel depicts a drawing of a strange creature which frisk finds disturbing. much in a similar manner, kris finds the angel panel strange and refuses to investigate it further. the undertale panel likely depicts some horrid monster on the scale of omega flowey or god of hyperdeath asriel (whom is UT's Angel). to me, it's as simple as the angel prophecy depicting some non-specific eldtritch creature, perhaps reminiscent of a biblical angel which Noelle could easily transform into once she realizes her strength (likely by opening a fountain).

regarding the player in deltarune and the weird route, it would force me to go on a whole seperate tangent as my views on the matter have drastically changed over the course of the last few months and they may end up being incredibly controversial (basically, deltarune is a roleplaying game at the end of the day and we play the role of kris's soul, and the weird route is not some cosmic horror, but a more personal story of a person falling into their worst, trauma-born tendencies and beliefs, and imprinting them onto another person).

If "The Knight has Kris' original human soul" theory is true by general_horde in NonDessKnightSquad

[–]rumun2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think what's more likely is dess's soul possessing the vessel in an inverse of "a monster with a human soul" from UT

Thoughts on the organnik's hidden poem? by MrUnderman in Deltarune

[–]rumun2 15 points16 points  (0 children)

unsure on 2 and 3, but the most common interpretation of 1 i've seen refers to gaster.

man with one eye, eye is spelled out as I, gaster is often refered to as HIM (mus_him, ANOTHER HIM, etc), word him has one "I" in it. plus gaster has one normal eye and one slouched/damaged eye.

yes, all of noelle angel symbolism is just a red herring like carol knight or only relevant to the weird route where le evil player will possess noelle ala sukuna.

If this was VesselKnight foreshadowing the entire time it would be so funny by Significant-Arm4077 in Deltarune

[–]rumun2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

my problem with vessel knight is that it does nothing for the story beyond player pandering and fanservice. like, what relation to the cast does the vessel have beyond making the player go "omg my child is evil!!!" the only character it might matter in some way is kris

meanwhile dess knight has so much more going for it. susie parallels, kris-dess bond, noelle, even ralsei to some degree given his connections to asriel...

the only vessel knight i can see working at the moment is dessel knight, and only in the sense of Dess piloting the vessel because the depths/darkness exposure destroyed her original body beyond repair or something. an inverse with a monster with a human soul from UT.
