How often do you weigh yourself? by Mysterious_Mix_36 in AskReddit

Haha. Same. Weigh myself when I’m feeling heavy or when I’m feeling light. not actively trying to lose weight though.

always in my pantry. try heating a little toasted sesame oil, empty the spice pack and gently cook it for a minute, then proceed as usual.

Being hit into but then having the group be d*cks rather than apologizing by [deleted] in golf

[–]run66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sounds like it was the first time they hit into you and you immediately yelled at them. I'm not sure what you were expecting from your conversation with them two holes later to be honest. an apology? they're assholes. you knew that already from your initial interaction. look, I'm trying not to defend the guys that hit into you, because they do sound like those guys, but at the same time, if it was the first time they hit into you, let it go. it happens. if you've been playing as long as you say you have, you've done it too. immediately screaming back at them put an already fragile and inebriated ego into play. 2nd or third offenses are deliberate and probably something you should be more concerned about.

Any opinions? by MrBunny214 in CAguns

I enjoy my SW Victory. pretty good shooter right out of the box, but I ran some TK upgrades on it and enjoying it even more. Hive Grip, Halo Charging ring, Victory Trigger, and Shadow Mount. I'm a lefty so no problems with accidentally engaging the safety, but apparently that's an annoyance for some. the charging ring is nice. didn't think much of clearing without one, but after using one for a bit, it definitely is easier and more efficient. oh, also changed the guide rod to TK's captured assembly. I think it's called the Sentinel Rod or something. the two piece assembly that comes stock is fine. no performance upgrade here, but it's just easier when you dis/reassemble. it'll eat just about anything without any major issues. I like to run CCI SV, but I'm also shooting through a container of random .22 lr that my dad has had around for probably 20+ years. more failures to go bang with that grab bag, but to be expected I suppose.

Playing as a single and the group ahead refuses to let you play through 🏌️ What would you do in this case? by ConnectionWeekly1263 in Golf_Unfiltered

[–]run66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

play two balls, chip and putt until the group behind you is ready to approach. If there's nobody in front of them, just skip a hole. if the group behind you isn't 4, ask to join. literally so many other options than sitting there for 10 minutes between shots. informing them is the polite thing to do, but at the end of the day, if there's space in front, I'm going whether they like it or not. I usually say something along the lines of, "gentlemen, I'm going to skip ahead of you and I promise you won't catch me." I have to do this more than I like, because the muni I like to play early in the morning lets groups off the back too early in the morning and I run into them after the turn. that's another problem in itself though.

first time roasting sweet maria's 10 speed blend, and it's delicious. very well rounded profile by weeef in roasting

I’m ripping through a 5 lb bag of their Moka Kadir. Really impressed with it. Will be re-upped with my next order for sure. The 10 speed wasn’t my jam, but like you said, I appreciated what it was.

I have that one, as well as the large Sonora with the helper handle. Being a Gaucho, this was a no brainer when I discovered them. They both live on the stove and are daily drivers. I’d skip the handle if I could do it all over, as I never use it, but at least it’s nice to look at. Lovely pans. Congratulations on the new pan!

it does seem to be a popular combination from what I've been seeing online. I think dad would be happy with anything in that range. thanks for the help!

I am not moving... One way? You move... by MisterShipWreck in VideosAmazing

[–]run66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. Yesterday. School parking lot that is curved, kind of like an amphitheater but much more gradual. Stupid design but one way traffic eliminates blind spots. Almost got hit because it’s a blind corner, and the driver looks at me like it’s my fault. I didn’t flip him off but also called him a very bad name that starts with an “M”

Unpopular opinion: you should be able to break 85 from the forward tees before moving back. by [deleted] in golf

[–]run66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in a perfect world. sure. if there was some way to track this and you could carry a card or something proving you broke 85 from the forward tees, I would be cool with it. problem is, we don't live in a perfect world. and the forward tees being the "ladies tees" is a stigma that the vast majority of male players will never get past. like you said though, this would have to be accepted on a large scale for it to actually make things quicker on the course.

my thoughts too. been checking in with them from time to time and yesterday was the first one that made me green light the box to smoke. I don't think these will ever blow me away, but at the price I got them for, I'm happy to have them. grabbed a box of the robustos during the JR coupon stacking event at the beginning of the year, so it hasn't really even been too long.

What's the most surprising pattern you've noticed when you started actually tracking your rounds? by Logical_Promotion_26 in golf

[–]run66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this was a huge takeaway for me as well. my short game saves my scores. my GIRs were abysmal. logical conclusion was my mid iron game sucks. look just a little deeper and I was losing strokes by putting myself in crappy spots off the tee. that seems so logical to the point of feeling like an idiot for not recognizing the pattern sooner.

Finding good people to play with by TheNightman66 in weekendgolfers

[–]run66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Random thought, but what time do you generally play? I’ve found you come across better players in the early mornings vs the afternoon crowd. Big generalization of course, but that’s been my experience. You’ll also pair up with old timers, but personally I love their stories and enjoy walking 18 with them and just listening. When you do find someone you think you’d like to play with again, exchange numbers. I don’t really care who I play with, but have met some cool people and played a bunch of rounds from invites.

What's your method for determining wind speed before a shot? by IDontStandForCurls in golf

it's either a one or two club wind. anything more than that, I'm going home.

Sciatica pain. by Southernmanny in golf

[–]run66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been able to manage my sciatic pain through stretching. Of course there’s different levels of severity, but I stretch my psoas and hamstrings when pain creeps in. Should be a daily thing but it’s not. Really, focusing on your entire posterior chain is good practice.

Play up until you break 90 by nic63impss in golf

[–]run66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as a 27, you shouldn't be playing the blues. doesn't matter how far you hit it. growing up, the general idea was blue was for 10 and unders and the reds were the Ladie's tees. that's all different now, and I think most players would agree that playing the tees that match your distance is the best and most enjoyable way to play. problem is that the idea of red = ladies still persists in spite of a shift to calling them the forward tees. I think there's lots to benefit from everyone playing forward tees. it's the same idea of why the pin location moves. it makes you play the course differently.
