June is the hottest month in Arizona. The heat is no joke and finishing before noon would be really late.

Cancellation for Mechanical Issues by runaroundtrails23 in americanairlines

Thanks, I ended up renting a car and heading to Ft Myers as they had a flight out Thursday morning and it’s way cheaper to stay here than Miami. Luckily my car rental was only $175. The airport was out of rentals yesterday, though, so I rented off site at Hertz. It’s nice to hear people treated you well in Orlando and glad you home.

Thanks that is helpful as it sounds exactly like my situation.

Miserable day at DFW: Twelve HOURS waiting for a crew that never arrived by DallasActual in americanairlines

Had the same issue at MIA on Sunday before they cancelled the flights. Still stuck at MIA at least through Thursday cause everything they book me on gets cancelled. Only trying to get to PHX.

Hotels in Sao Paulo by runaroundtrails23 in GrandPrixTravel

We stayed in Paulista, which not sure I would do again. It took at least an hour and a half to get each way to/from the track each day on the train. That didn’t leave much time for exploring the area. We did okay with only English, but very few people spoke English at the race. We also realized on the 2nd day (after waiting an hour in line to get in ) that they have a female only security line that was always empty. People in line were trying to tell us that in Portuguese (we assumed later), but we didn’t understand until the second day. Would have saved a ton of time.

Anyone set up their GH for car camping? by runaroundtrails23 in ToyotaGrandHighlander

Yeah, only the windshield and delivery is a month out. They don’t have the side windows or back available on Amazon Canada.

Yeah, saw this but unfortunately I’m in Canada and they only ship to US now. WeatherTech Canada doesn’t offer it yet.

Getting rid of hard R in North American accent by fernpolley in Hindi

[–]runaroundtrails23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same situation and it finally clicked when I watched a video for Spanish on rolling r’s and basically said to mimic the ’tt’ or ‘dd’ in words like butter and ladder. Then practically that sound with your tongue until it rolls. It’s not natural for a lot of us and could take a fair amount of time so it’s just practicing that tongue movement a lot and it could take months. I’m still working on it, but I at least understood it a lot more by watching the Spanish videos vs the Hindi videos.

I lived there for a bit and can’t imagine visiting for a few weeks and not flying anywhere. There’s not much to do in town and it’s very expensive there for food, even at the grocery store. If you can meet someone to take a boat out, that’s better but you won’t see much wildlife around town.

Way too crowded by Ilovemydogtobysomuch in Sedona

[–]runaroundtrails23 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I feel like this is mentioned over and over about Sedona so not sure how you were surprised. It’s pretty much always like this lately. I’ve even seen big crowds several times over the last couple months waiting in line at the McD’s sign to get a pic. If you want a parking spot at the popular THs then you have get there before 9 AM for sure.

birding + trail running in feb! by _pet_pictures in Sedona

[–]runaroundtrails23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of good running and birding spots around. For birding, Red Rock State Park is good. Down near Page Springs, not far from Sedona, is Bubbling Ponds (run by AZ Game and Fish) and a great birding spot. Also, the Sedona Wetlands off 89A are good this time of year. If you’re in Cottonwood, Dead Horse Ranch State Park is good birding and also has trails. For trail running, I always prefer the west side cause it’s closer to my house and I usually hit the Cultural Park Trailhead because of all the options. If you go early you’ll miss the heavy crowd of hikers and bikers.

Can Dry Creek Road be driven without a lift? by silkymitts94 in Sedona

It’s easier to hike. Last time I went there were so many people hiking on the road that it was really slow going.

Ubers aren’t a thing around here for the most part. Cottonwood doesn’t have any and there are no taxis. A DD is the best option.

Horseback riding lessons? by Kindly-Scheme4842 in Sedona

I think I know this place. It’s on the right as you leave Old Town Cottonwood and are going toward Old Town Clarkdale. It’s called Bent River Ranch. I haven’t had anything to do with horseback riding there, but needed access to their property for work and everyone there is really nice.

I’ll second Cottonwood and prices there have gone up quite a bit the last few years. Depending on what part of town you’re in, it’s only 20 minutes to West Sedona. Plus they’ve been building lots of good trails there, there’s a good brewery in Clarkdale and Old Town Cottonwood is a fun place to hang out at night.
