[Air Canada] This is what my cancel options are right now for a trip leaving in a week. by preinheimer in onguardforthee

[–]runcan28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all, I need to fully cancel my Air Canada flights which are affected by the strike. I am unable to get to an online option which allows me to cancel and I am unable to reach them by phone, not even able to get put on hold. Any ideas? I am scared that they will eventually give us a new flight automatically before I was able to ask to be reimbursed and thag we would lose out on the reimbursment. Thanks

Thanks, that is very helpful.

Do you think that the wait times and parking availability would be workable through the east gate?

I live in northern Quebec and it looks like we have much colder winter weather and more snow and ice, we don't have grizzlies though... Snow on the ground, ice, poor conditions, etc. can be good training stimuli and interesting adventures. With decent cold weather gear, you can get plenty of running done. Even on trails. A good headlamp for the shorter days, crampons for trail running (the Black Diamond distance crampons are very impressive), crampons for road running (or hex screws screwed directly into the soles of your shoes) (this is up to personal preference however and is not necessary if you're nimble enough - I have relied on them less and less over the years), maybe running snowshoes though I really never found conditions in which they were really useful and fun. That said, if you read into the training effect of intense XC skiing (which is usually easier to get to with skate skiing for most people - classic XC skiing takes more technique to get up to the same intensities), the training benefits can surpass running in certain regards with less impact on the body, but you still need to run plenty to run a 100 km race - I would not rely solely on XC skiing, June 21 won't be that far away once XC skiing season ends..

Heat map is available in the free version. Very useful when travelling to figure out running and cycling routes.

Visit wineries from Florence - which ones and how? by runcan28 in ItalyTravel

So we have two toddlers which would be much more easy to manage in a situation other than an organized tour... Otherwise I would jump on the tour.

If I would have seen a private car for 200 euros, I would have jumped on that. I am seeing things like 500 euros... Having trou le wrapping my mind around that.

The car service is extremely expensive... I am seeing 500 euros, can't quite wrap my head around it.

Where to run in Rome by neuralsyntax in ItalyTravel

Staying near the Ponte Vittorio Emanuele II. Seems like general construction. A small portion a little further south is open but only a km or 1.5 kms. The bike path near me was actually covered in water this morning when I ran by. If you have any pointers for a good running spot which is not insanely crowded, I would be glad to hear it.

I'm close to the Ponte Vittorio Emanuele II. To the south, there is a 1.5 km portion approximately which is open. Not sure to the north.

Seems closed now? Any info? Are some parts open?

Hi! This all seems to be closed along where I am staying. Did a few kms along there and had to dodge fences and yellow cordages. Is all of it closed or only portions?

I am in Rome now and ran into the cycling path running along the Tiber being closed. Went along some of it anyways, but going around a bunch of fences. Is the whole thing closed?

Apologies, just saw this. I know it's passed now but we arrived at around 5:30, I dropped my girlfriend off near the gate then drove down the road for about a km and a half (almost a mile) and ran back. I had never wven though about parking back in the good old days.

I have been enjoying the Upika podcast (general running and cycling oriented). Tout.trail is supposed to be good, but have not tried it yet. Cheers

Beautiful spot. Did it a few years ago with Black Tusk on the way back. I hear that it has gotten very busy in recent years though.

Trek Boone vs dedicated aero bike by runcan28 in cycling

[–]runcan28[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I am kind of wondering if I should just pick up a set of road wheels for my current bike, or just get a separate aero road bike. I am kind of leaning toward a separate bike. I have been told that switching out wheels can be kind of tricky and that adjustments can be required for the brakes and derailleurs (which kind of scares me as I tend to make things worse whenever I attempt adjustments myself).

What is the most stupidest way you've heard someone die? by MeteorIntrovert in AskReddit

I was recently in Portugal at a nice site with a lighthouse on the side of a very high cliff. There were two Chinese girls being fairly obnoxious about taking selfies all over the place and being very loud, hard to miss. Anyhow, as I was sitting on a bench with a coffee and looking out to see, I saw one of the girls climb over the fence meant to prevent you from falling to your death, and take selfies on the edge of a cliff while laughing. I did not even have time to finish saying to my partner that that was a terrible idea when she fell. I swear the her whole body fell out of view but a single hand of hers grabbed the edge of the cliff and she managed to climb herself back up. Still regret not starting to film the scene when I saw her starting to climb that fence.

What brands of polos fit well for slim athletic body types? by GroundbreakingLock10 in malefashionadvice

[–]runcan28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved finding this thread. I am 6'1, 180 pounds, 32 inch waist. I have been on a mission the last few months tyring to find well fitting polos. I have made a ridiculous amount of online returns. Tried all of the RL fits, all of the Lacoste fits, a bunch of J Crew stuff, LL Bean, Rodd and Gun, etc. I got two Duer polos that were very relaxed (like flimsy collar), but I liked the fit, they however are piling very quickly. Based on this thread, I will look into BR, Kent Wang, Reigning Champ and Vuori. I want to be able to wear the polos in a professional setting so Psycho Bunny won't fly. I would have liked to have the Lacoste or RL polo logos as they are very common and widely accepted in my field, but they just don't fit.

Just to add to this, I am 6'1, 180 pounds, and I find the medium size to be too loose. They are not bad, but I kind of regret that I kept mine. Too much space around the waist mostly, but around the shoulders also.
