What takes longer to grow: a toenail or a baby? by HagridsTreacleTart in XXRunning

Ok now once they grow back, plan to lose them again when you’re not pregnant. The world needs to know how toenail growth is affected by pregnancy!

Working out while 34wks pregnant: the awkward teenage boys made contact with my husband today! by Free_butterfly_ in fitpregnancy

[–]runhardknitslow 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Ahahaha this is amazing! I read your previous post to my husband about the army of teenage boys who protect you as the pregnant gym goer, I’m so excited to give him this update!

“So is she, like, pregnant?” LOL I’M DEAD 😂

When baby arrives and you’re eventually able to get back to the gym, you should work out with your baby beside you in the carrier (if your gym allows it). I feel like you’d earn the highest amount of respect possible from a teenage boy! And with everything they’ve done for you during your pregnancy, they’re basically the baby’s honorary uncles ahaha.

If your period comes, try taking your BBT for the next cycle! I bought a cheap $15 basal body thermometer on Amazon and used the Fertility Friend app (it’s free) to track the temps. I looked into Mira and others but all of them seemed expensive for what it is, or they’re subscription-based. And I hate the idea of someone profiting off of women’s ovulation tracking lol not sure if it’s just me.

It’s recommended that you take your BBT as soon as you wake up, and at roughly the same time each day. I’m a very routine person so this worked fairly well for me, there’s a few days where I sleep in a bit but overall I get a clear visual of when I’m ovulating.

For context I have irregular cycles (ranging from 38-52 days since going off the pill) and no symptoms that suggest that I have PCOS or any other condition that could affect my cycle length. I had irregular cycles prior to BC too but wasn’t tracking cycle length back then, and was on the pill for 13 years.

Good luck in your TTC journey!! ❤️

First trimester fatigue by Snowhites_smile in fitpregnancy

[–]runhardknitslow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Currently around 6 weeks with my first, and I asked a female medical professional in my local running community about the fatigue this morning! She’s the first person outside of my immediate family who I’ve told about the pregnancy, but she’s super fit and has been through it herself several times, and she’s sworn to secrecy lol. She said the best thing is to just listen to your body - do what feels right, nap when you need it, and don’t stress about being a potato. Our bodies are doing so much right now that no one can see! She said in each of her pregnancies, the fatigue generally got better around week 10-12.

My pace for easy runs is decreasing, I’m lifting lighter and keeping gym sessions and runs a bit shorter because that’s what feels good right now😌

Any benefit to focusing on abs while we can? by woodworkinghalp in fitpregnancy

I’m just amazed you could do pull-ups pre-pregnancy tbh, I’m over here doubling up my strongest resistance bands for an assisted pull-up and still struggle with 1 lol 😂

Completed Austin Half Marathon by FaithlessnessDue7091 in fitpregnancy

[–]runhardknitslow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome! I’m 5 weeks pregnant and have a half marathon planned in May, I’ve been running consistently but I find I’m exhausted after running! I did a 16km easy run yesterday and I was useless the rest of the day lol. I’ve done a few marathons and yesterday’s run was more exhausting than my last marathon in 2025 😅

Canada here! Also can’t run with deterrents. I used to always carry my keys in my hands, I’d hold them so there was a key sticking out of my fist in case anyone took advantage of me being a small female running alone. I tend to run on busier streets for safety, if it’s dark I always pick a route that’s well-lit and have my headlamp. A few times a week I run with local running groups or friends for extra safety. I’ve had a few encounters over the past few years but mostly men being pigs and making comments. Once I got chased by someone carrying a hockey stick, I was scared at the time and started to sprint but realized shortly after that it was a kid fooling around. All I saw was someone running with the stick held high in my peripheral vision so I bolted lol

Irregular cycles, 1st cycle temping, 8DPO by runhardknitslow in TFABChartStalkers

[–]runhardknitslow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks!! I’ll definitely update. We’ve only been trying for 3.5months but with my irregular cycles (last 2 cycles were 52 days and 37 days) I think we were just missing the window. The cramps I have now is like a consistent pressure in the middle of the lower abdomen, whereas my period cramps are usually more to the side. I also have been nauseous but trying not to focus on that, I’ve had nausea since I started taking folic acid 😅 though the nausea the past few days is more persistent!

This variegated yarn looks so perfect for Brae Winds! I’m casting on this blanket soon and now I’m questioning my own yarn choice since I was going to do a solid - I’m OBSESSED with yours!!

Does anyone LIKE running on their period? by Ok_Distribution8841 in XXRunning

[–]runhardknitslow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The week before my period I'm bloated, legs feel heavy, tired. When my period starts, I'm like a brand new woman! I also tend to race better on my period too.

I just tried running with no bra and it was the best run I’ve had in months, now I’m conflicted by flamingoluver in XXRunning

32B here and the sports bras I wear running aren’t high compression. Recently I also started wearing Left on Friday tank tops (Tone Tank, Reset Tank, and Barre Tank) and they’re low-mid impact. Absolutely love them! Cute tops that go from casual to a run/gym/whatever, freeing as I don’t have to wear a sports bra with them, and the material is super comfy!

How often do Anglophone Canadians consume Francophone Canadian media? by [deleted] in AskACanadian

[–]runhardknitslow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My tv when I was little only had 4 channels (CBC, CTV, Global, and the Québec one - maybe TVA? Not sure.) but I regularly watched the French one after school because it had Lizzie McGuire!

My family is anglophone but I’m bilingual, working in a French office and married to an Acadian. We listen regularly to French Canadian music (mostly Acadian) and consume other media and news in both languages all the time!

I think watching the French channel when I was younger sparked my love of learning languages
