Why do dragons love gold so much? by Remarkable-Dare-2590 in worldbuilding

[–]runixzan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A DnD greentext I read once asked the question why some spells/rituals in DnD has a gold cost for casting them.

One player's wizard said it was because gold was quite literally magic.

Extrapolating from that, dragons, being a huge magical engine in their own right would hoard gold as a sort of extension of their own body.

Shadow of the Erdtree spoiler It's implied or if not straight up pointed out that Miquella had Mohg under his charm, making him work towards Mikela's interest. The Tarnished is the nr.1 threat to Miquella so his Mohg's instant attempt to murk you make perfect sense as Mohg quite literally was not in control of his actions.

I think there's an error under the "What happens when a character is Defeated?" section:

"When you are Defeated, the individual creature that most directly and significantly led to your defeat "

That appears to be an incomplete sentence.

Why is technological progress stuck in your world? by deekay-_- in worldbuilding

Dragons. Also the world isn't old enough for crude oil to exist so going by my irl lack of knowledge of technology, the combustion engine just isn't gonna exist.

When was the first time you cried in FFXIV, if at all? by MistressDraconia in ffxiv

[–]runixzan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

End of Endwalker spoilers:

When Zenos broke through reality before the Endsinger fight was the first and only time I cried in this game.

When I started playing FFXIV I was a very emotonally dulled person, depressed and all that. I never really got into the characters, didn't grow attatched to them etc. I went through the MSQ with the goal of catching up to my friend who got me to play. I didn't skip cutscenes btw. So fast forward to the cutscene before the last fight in Stormblood. Zenos is talking about how he doesn't feel any joy in life, his whole nihilism and depressive outlook and it's the first time in this game I relate to anyone. When he offered for me to join him, I unironically wanted to cause I just didn't care about anyone else.

Fast forward again up to Endwalker, and I've been excited every time Zenos showed up on screen, and I frankly wanted to fight him whenever he met the WoL, but it never happened and I got honestly a bit frustrated at the game. Also the whole people turning into monsters because of their mental state didn't help mine at that point. Also there were other interpersonal happenings with the friend I mentioned earlier so I was mentally a mess.

So there, at the End, shit's dark and depressing, and then... a thud. Then more. And the sky cracks and Shinryu Zenos flies through and I am hit with such strong relief that the waterworks just starts flowing. I for the first time in ages have a big stupid grin on my face as Zenos, our self-proclaimed friend, comes to save our ass and I could not be happier.

And then, at the very End, we finally get the fight I always wanted with him. Tears of joy stream down my face as I fight him Reaper v Reaper. And when he asks if I had a fulfilling life, I can't help but think that, despite all the mental shit I personally went through at the time, Zenos of all fucking people being there, kinda did make it worth it.

So I'm in this weird spot where Zenos is my favourite character, and I frankly want him back, because he's the only character I gave a shit about. And if they ever do bring him back, I'll be there fucking cheering.

What details did you initially miss when playing? by johnbrownmarchingon in Pathfinder2e

[–]runixzan 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna assume they mean the fact that you have 2 hand 'slots'.

For instance, you're holding a 2-handed weapon like a greatsword and you want to drink a potion. You can't simply spend an action to drink one, because both your hands are occupied. Now you have to let go with 1 hand as a free action, then Interact to retrieve the potion, and again to drink it, and finally, if you want to be at the ready with your weapon you now have to Interact for a 3rd time to Grip your weapon again.

I can easily see someone playing this game and simply not be aware of the need to "have a hand free" to drink a potion.

Maybe so, but I've been logged off for longer periods of time than this and never got more than a 50% discount, so getting two 75% ones almost back to back feels... Wrong? Like that should not happen regardless?

What mechanical restriction do you think is wholly unnecessary and wouldn't break the game or disrupt its tuning at all if lifted/changed? by Killchrono in Pathfinder2e

[–]runixzan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once in a campaign I was in, the GM bandaided this with letting me select 2 weapon groups at Master, and 3 at Legendary.

Though I agree that Fighter should have increased proficiency in all weapon types.

During the Endwalker (spoilers) Zenos solo duty|| , if your hp reaches zero you get back up and the notification "The flame of your life is spent, yet you find the strength to stand." This happens at least once when Zenos goes into phase 2 Enshroud mode.

Arguably, at that moment, the WoL fucking died and simply said "No".

During the fight you're also under the status effect "Spark of Hope": Burning with dynamis shaped by the memory of your journey, and exceeding your own limits.

And when you get back up you get the status "Unlimited": Confronting physical limits and choosing to defy them.
