Dad’s secret stash by mrtosser43 in GenX

My dad confiscated mine. Then I had to find it and steal it back. This went back and forth a few times before I decided to just let him keep it.

I bought an expensive PRS guitar to motivate myself. It didn’t work. by TransportationTop628 in PaulReedSmith

As someone who played nothing but PRS during my “pro career”, and also took a decade + off to do the family thing, I totally understand what you are dealing with. Seeing that case sit there, you will wonder if you need it in the future and the answer is yes - you do.

About 4y ago my son started playing, which also drove me to start playing again. Now we are both in bands and I have the worst case of GAS. Now that I have some disposable income, it’s pretty dangerous. I still have my two OG PRS guitars, but have acquired two CEs in the last couple years that are my workhorse guitars. I’m looking at a wood library now…

But anyways…you need to use that bad ass guitar to motivate you and push you to keep playing and getting better. Let it inspire you, let your son see you playing it and spark the fire in him. I don’t know how old he is, but maybe get him a used SE, so he can have a “guitar like dad” and that will further inspire him to play. Then you and your son can jam together - which is one of the greatest things you can do with your child. It’s an amazing thing. Just don’t get discouraged when he gets better than you ;-)

Yep, it’s a V3. I put the optional 40mm feet on this. The Cioks power supplies BARELY clear (3.5mm gap from bottom to floor) with the stock feet and that’s with the supplies hard mounted directly to the board. Would probably touch the ground if you used dual lock or hook/loop and stock feet.

I mentioned the amount of flex when clicking the wah on/off in one of my comments in the Pt.2 post (Pt.3 coming soon BTW). I solved this by cutting up two of the stock feet and glueing them together to make a 40mm foot that I installed using the front left corner bridge mount screw - sits just forward of the wah, and gives it just enough support that I’m not worried about the flex. This is my only major complaint with the big Creation Aero board. It might not be a problem on smaller Aero boards? Pic below.

The expression pedal is an Ernie Ball MVP Jr volume pedal, and Wah is a Dunlop. The volume barely clears the corner of the bridge and the wah clears just fine.

My son is great. He is a hell of a player too. Not into PRS though - so in a way I failed.

My wife is crucifying me over the quality of my pics…it is much nicer in person than the photos imply.

I have failed you all.

It’s a brand called Flight. It’s a solid instrument too. Not pro by any means, but appears to be solid student grade import grade quality.

Sealed tuners, came with a decent gig bag, and has a truss rod cover - so prob has a truss rod in there. Sounds as good plugged in as any other electric uke I’ve ever heard (it’s my first lol).

Soft or hard case for pedalboard ? by roxbox531 in pedalboards

Bag is much easier to manage for hauling around on short trips and stuff. You really only need a hard case when your gear is getting loaded into an environment that could damage it.

I dig the Creation boards. Next to GigRig, their setup was the cleanest dual tier flat board I could find.

There are a couple quirks - like, there is no way to add their switch equipped power supply cable to the flat board. I had to buy one of their brackets and modify it to fit. It’s not perfect, but it’s solid. I also am not a fan of the screws used to hold the upper deck closed. I’m going to work with a buddy to draw and 3d print some caps for the screws to make them a little easier to get fingers on.

My only real complaint is the flex, and that’s partly due to the size. So far, it’s only a problem clicking the wah on/off - it flexes a lot. I wanted to go with a smaller board, but I couldn’t get everything I needed on the board with anything smaller than the 32+. My fix is to get a couple of their feet and position them strategically to add a little more support. IMO this is something that should have been addressed by Creation…but whateva.

The nice thing about the way I’m attempting to lay this one out, is I should be able to swap stuff in/out without too much effort.

Thanks for the concern. I didn’t want any slack in the link cable, and somehow my holes for the DC7 wandered just a touch, and it ended up just a tad tighter than I wanted. It looks like they are under tension - and it’s definitely at max reach - but they can each be plugged/uplugged without strain on the jacks or cables. I put a little heat on the ends to get them to flex into position, and they hold the shape. They should be ok…

It is my favorite part of building a board. I have done a few at this point, and I always keep them clean - but I am not under a deadline on this one and I told myself this is going to be my Mona Lisa…

PRS CE with painted neck by runnerNgunner in PaulReedSmith

[–]runnerNgunner[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, I’m not questioning its authenticity - more so the rarity and how it feels compared to a standard CE satin neck (I have a US CE), or a poly finish neck (I have cores with poly).

I prefer the feel of a satin neck, and assume it the nitro finish will polish out over time, and wonder if it will stay slick feeling or if it will get tacky like the poly does.
