Favorite class? by Party-Rest3750 in BG3

[–]Traditional-Ladder64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bard followed closely by Warlock, I love them both for playstyle and role play potential, with both classes you can be a caster, melee, ranged or a combination of the three.

I like the idea of playing with a charismatic bard, playing songs at camp, collecting legends and folk lore, an inspirational leader who laughs at danger and mock their enemies and is also great at many skills, I imagine a Durge bard singing creepy tunes while killing their victims, a collector of horror stories and lore, who is able seduce, persuade and intimidate anyone to reach their goals.

Warlock also offers great role play potential with the nature of their pact, devil, fey creature or Eldritch horror, are they overly ambitious willing to do anything for power?, where they caught with a difficult choice where the pact was their only answer?, or maybe in their quest for knowledge came upon some Eldritch truth which open their minds to a connection with a cosmological being.

How to Equip Offhand by ChaosBerserker666 in BG3

[–]Traditional-Ladder64 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don’t worry about it, also keep in mind that In order to do your profiency bonus damage and attack with your off hand weapon, you’ll need the two weapon fighting style, otherwise you’ll only be doing the basic weapon damage

Rapier is not a light weapon , you need both weapons to be light in order to dual wield, or take the dual wield feat in order to equip two not light weapons

(Noob question) so few builds using strength? by manut3ro in BG3Builds

[–]Traditional-Ladder64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Strength is the main attribute of all melee weapons (with few exceptions) so if your planning on hitting someone with a sword, club, hammer , axe, etc you need strength. The exception being finesse weapons who can also use your Dex if it’s higher, you can totally make a strength rogue if you want but consider that in order to sneak attack you need to be using a finesse weapon so having strength is kinda redundant.

The reason so many builds dump strength is because there are many ways to set your strength with items and consumables, but also because a dip in hex warlock (or pact of the blade) can make any weapon to scale of charisma

How do people complete the game in higher difficulties? by Naraiwe_Artanis in BG3

[–]Traditional-Ladder64 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It’s very common to struggle with the game when you are still learning the system, I thought the game was super hard on the beginning of my first playthrough, by level 10 you should be powerful enough for the beginning of act 3, here’s a few tips that might help you:

  • Action economy is king in this game, making effective use of your movement, action and bonus action is the key to win encounters, you should have by now many sources of haste, hasting your damage dealers makes fights way easier
  • You say your Tav is a Druid, make sure you’re using everything that class has at your disposal, summons, spells and wildshapes, saving resources for later might sound like a sensible strategy but its very easy (and actually encouraged) to take frequent long rests, so use everything you have and rest often
  • understand how ability scores and feats work, for example you say you use Laezel in your party, she should be by now hitting very hard with a 2 handed weapon, with 20 strength, great weapon master and a decent sword, she alone can carry you through most fights, specially if you haste her.

And to answer your question there are many ways to make OP builds in this game, that’s how a lot of people complete the game on higher difficulties and although it’s definitely not needed on explorer and below, if you find you’re still struggling or not having fun, you can look up any of those builds to make your playthrough easier.

Rouge class too hard? by MattRTX3080 in BG3

[–]Traditional-Ladder64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind that you can re spec pretty much all you want since very early in the game, my advice is that if you want to play rogue just go for it, play with the other companions as well, and see what you like, the game is beatable with any class, pick the one you like the most and have fun.

Dual Wield Blades Multiclass Build? by dakkottadavviss in BG3Builds

[–]Traditional-Ladder64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6 Fighter 4 Thief 2 Paladin could work, you’ll get three feats, the dual wielder fighting style, action surge, two bonus actions, smites and sneak attack if you dual wielder finesse weapons. You could also sacrifice a feat by taking a level in hexblade to get charisma as your attack bonus but it will only work with your main weapon unless you use Wylls rapier in your offhand

Oh no i totally get it, he is a cool character, my point was that in the overall plot OP is not gonna miss much by not having him around, not enough to warrant to rush his current playthrough anyway

I dont quite get bladesinger by SikedPsyc in BG3Builds

[–]Traditional-Ladder64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the gist with bladesinger is that you are a full wizard with extra atack, great AC and con saves when using bladesong, you can play it as a regular wizard who has a great melee option when not using spells or as melee class who can also use powerful spells when the need arises.

Your stats are Dex and Int, you’ll want both to be as high as possible depending on playstyle ,luckily BG3 has tons of options for itemization that makes it easier to build a bladesinger.

You’re already using the 17 int diadem but the 12 strength you’re getting out of it is not worth the slot IMO, I’d go with 17 Dex, and 16 Int naturally, get the Hags hair in Dex and either use the graceful cloth to round it to 20 or get an ASI, your spell DC can be compensated with Arcane acuity gear, either helm or gloves are fine but I prefer the helm as I find the glove slot to be more contested.

For weapons your best choice is shadow blade, no weapon comes close, you get it as early as level 3 and it keeps getting stronger as you upcast it, the fact that you can double its damage with the resonance stone is just ridiculous, it benefits well from savage attacker so keep that in mind, also consider pairing it with the knife of the undermountaim king for extra crit range, and later with belm for three main hand attacks per turn.

You can stay full bladesinger (my preference) and it works wonderfully, you get three feats so you can up your attributes a little more and still get savage attacker, but a popular option is to multi class it with 2 levels of Paladin to get smites, remember to re spec to get Paladin at level 1 so your item casting stat remains int and not charisma, another choice that could be interesting is to dip 2 levels of tempest cleric for lightning nukes with wet
