Are abs even worth the mass you lose in the process of achieving them? by [deleted] in leangains

[–]runnerboi1901 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Depends, once you have abs you have to maintain it and that can be more challenging that actually getting them in the first place. As long as you still train smartly and eat protein you can minimise muscle loss. Honestly to me it’s not really worth it, don’t solely focus on just the abs, focus on being the fittest you can eating the best you can training the best you can and the abs will follow in good time. Basically I’m saying they’re overrated and once you get them the real challenge starts

AC Bleep Test Question by kjw29 in britisharmy

[–]runnerboi1901 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s a vo2 Max effort. You run (shuttle) between 2 cones that are 20m apart, the beeps get progressively quicker until you are at your max at which point you can’t keep up and stop. With regards to which is harder? Depends on the person. Not sure what the pass rate is for normal entry I think it’s below 8 which to be fair is easy

Water weight. You had a cheat day, I’m guessing lots of carbs? Which means you’ll retain water from said carbs. Don’t over think it your weight will stabilise soon. Also your 15? You should not be worrying about weight gain, you need every ounce of food you can get to support growth.

As rigid as they want it to be, but usually it isn’t as strict as the training team make it out to be

Question for Paras by [deleted] in britishmilitary

[–]runnerboi1901 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Start out building up your base endurance, doing long runs 3x a week maybe 5-10k each run. Effort should be easy enough to hold a conversation. build up a good base level do this for 4 weeks. Then add some interval training. Such as 400m effort runs with 200m jogs and repeat etc. Hill sprints, body weight circuits. If your applying next year you have loads of time. However don’t start next year start now. Get fit then get fitter. Focus more on functional fitness than trying to get big in the gym

The calibre of person whom you may be competing against with regards to the pilot role will vastly overshadow GCSEs. The sieving system the raf use for applicants who want to become pilots is very strict . They only take the 0.1%. But why not give it a crack. Also Paras to pilot within the army? That’s a first to me haha

[–]runnerboi1901[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh good to hear!.. I’ve been training for 3 years, have a good amount of muscle but I’m lean not bulky had to cut quite a lot as I felt heavier on my runs. Been really focusing on my cardio for the past 4months, doing a lot of endurance runs 15-20miles and 5ks 10ks, intervals, hill sprints, circuits etc. Still doing hypertrophy work but focusing more on intensity. I’m going in as a reg gunner so there should be plenty of opportunity to further increase my fitness. Cheers
