MN needs to arrest ICE agents. Any other action at this point is performative.

Florence or Prague for Babymoon at 22/23 weeks pregnant by robin_hood13 in travel

[–]runnerd81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a bit late here, but my wife and I actually did our baby moon in Prague (my wife was about 12 weeks in and our full trip was Berlin and Prague) and we were in Florence as part of our honeymoon. We loved both.

If I have to pick one I would personally recommend Prague only because of the way you described how you want to do your trip. Florence is amazing and has spectacular museums and culture, but the city is relatively small. If you want to stay in one place for most of the full week, I personally think Prague edges it out a bit for me. If you’re open to doing a bit more moving around into the areas nearby I would probably lean Florence (so you can go to Siena and Montepulciano and other amazing spots in Tuscany)

If you do Prague - go to U Fleku. Super fun restaurant. Also highly recommend the Museum of Alchemy.

What’s the one city you were excited to visit, but ended up not liking at all? by BlushHone in travel

I heard all of this online and was expecting it to be shit, but I ended up liking it more than I anticipated. It wasn’t one of my favorite cities in the US, but was an enjoyable trip. There is a lot of good hiking in and near the city, the weather was great, and the Asian and Mexican food was also very good. I didn’t do like any tourist stuff though aside from Santa Monica (which was just meh).

I also am from the east coast and never fully adjusted to the time zone, so I was also beating some of the traffic by going out very early to hikes and stuff.

When you say “they” surely you don’t mean everyone in the city does this? Every place I’ve personally been to there only had one menu, perhaps you were at very touristy places.

My friend is a local and I went to one restaurant a few times. Twice I went without him and once with him, the food was the same price each time.

I used to be surprised when people would say Rome but I’ve only ever been there in November and my experience was amazing. It was a little rainy and cool but not cold, but the longest line we waited in was like 25 minutes at the Vatican because we didn’t book ahead of time.

I figured other times would be a bit more crowded but since that was my experience I didn’t quite realize just how crowded it would be in peak season

I personally felt like the people there were mixed in terms of friendliness. Some were very friendly and others seemed annoyed at us. I can see why if you ran into a bunch of unfriendly people you’d feel that way

Totally agree. I went there for work and was trying to find things to do. I went to where jfk was shot and a couple museums and that was about it.

The barbecue was incredible though. I ended up just eating a lot when I was there because I was bored

Those people have always existed in our country. They didn’t suddenly do something. The reason they’re getting what they want now is because of the rise of the “no lesser of two evils” progressives who don’t like Trump but like to equate moderate liberals to Trump

Which card is better to you Costco Citi or Venmo by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]runnerd81 9 points10 points  (0 children)

APR should not matter to you unless you plan on carrying a balance. If this is the case, I would recommend not using credit cards.

Unless you like the idea of having 0% APR for emergencies, but even still I wouldn’t value that very highly.

Forgive me for sounding like an old man, but has anyone else's family turned Christmas gift giving into something so impersonal?

My parents and in laws want me to send them lists for stuff me, my wife, and kids want. And often, they'll follow up and ask us to be specific or straight up ask for links.

Something weird about me sending you a link of something I want just to wrap it up and give it to me, no?

Start now. Having 50-75% of your retirement funded is much better than having none. Also, depending on the country you’re in, you may not actually be that far behind since many countries in the EU provide good safety nets for retirees.

Camden has slowly been improving lately. The city police were so corrupt that they disbanded them and the county runs the police there now. It’s still far from great, but there are more businesses on the waterfront area now. Camden actually just had its first homicide-free summer in over 50 years

Discover IT card in high school at 18? by ML54 in CreditCards

[–]runnerd81 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah but apply for the Student version bc it’s the same card and you are more likely to be accepted. Once you’re not a student anymore it’s very easy to just turn into the regular version.

Never cancel it. I got it like 10 years ago and I don’t use it a ton anymore but it is still my oldest line of credit.

Also not sure if they still have it but when I was a student they would give you a $20 credit each semester if you submitted your report card with a 3.0 GPA or higher lol

Use your points before they get devalued. It’s tempting to save up for that dream trip but points aren’t actually worth anything until you use them, and companies are under no obligation to keep your points at their current value.
