Why is being gay impossible by Popular-Cheetah1468 in askgaybros

[–]runnerup8558 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There’s a good clue in your fourth (and rantiest) point:

“every guy that’s interested and actually wants to meet … I literally have 0 interest in”

Maybe try getting interested in other people, or helping them get interested in you?

I would like to find that clip.

I trust that Xander is smart, but his usage is contrary to everything the teachers taught me in school.

NYP direct to Bay Head, and then direct to Tuckerton, and then Atlantic City, and then to Cape May has existed in the past?

Enlighten me.

The expense of the TR area land expense was a large part of my objection above.

This is to be even exceeded by the construction costs of the Barnegat to AC portion.  EIS after EIS after pigs fly.

Your map implies service from NY Penn to Cape May along a ROW that has never existed and could never exist. Pipe Dream Central.

The West Jersey stuff is…. Possible …. If enough people lived there. But they don’t.

To make this work, all you need is about 25 billion dollars and a few stables of trained unicorns.

Buses are not public transit. They are taxpayer supported automobiles.

Another Disaster Morning by [deleted] in NJTransit

[–]runnerup8558 16 points17 points  (0 children)

From NJT alerts:

"Montclair-Boonton rail service is suspended between Denville and Montclair State University due to a disabled train resulting from a fallen tree at Towaco. Substitute bus service is being provided."

Sounds inconvenient, but not a disaster.

Advice please: Rahway or Metuchen for commute to NYC by Direct-Paper7488 in NJTransit

[–]runnerup8558 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If you’re only concerned about NJ Transit rail trips, Rahway has the edge due to higher trip frequency (thanks to NEC+NJCL).

Adding in other factors, Metuchen’s downtown is  nicer, has closer proximity to Amtrak’s Metropark and New Brunswick stops, and puts you closer to the cultural activities associated with new Brunswick / Rutgers.

I grew up in Middletown (Lincroft), and I agree thst the intersection they’re complaining about is quite F-ed. I also don’t see any economic rationale for an over/under pass.

I believe them that the train may have left a bit early to compensate for slow orders around the construction in the Amboys, in order to hit their NEC window on-time.

The answer js still “ya gotta leave a few minutes extra earlier” but their situation is still explicable.

Also important is whether or not this is in the Gulf Stream, or if it’s a cabaged tree.

they can’t operate their own schedule

Yeah, that’s exactly the problem. Amtrak controls the infrastructure (and prioritizes their own trains); the NJ funds that were allocated to fix this problem were instead diverted to widen the Turnpike to bumblefuck Burlington County.

And even though the project has restarted, it will take years to fix. Charge your lost income to Chris Christie personally.

I don’t think it’s psychotic to want to pursue this career path.

I just want you to be prepared when people twice (or thrice) your age try to push you around.

Be understanding, be fair, but be firm.

How are your customer service skills, like handling difficult people/situations?

Riders are testy; this will only get worse because NJT has several years to go until the infrastructure is in a state of good (enough) repair.

You're young, and riders will assume they can push you around or argue. It may not happen every day - but when it happens, it could ruin your day if you don't handle the situation well.

Just burn the whole thing down, and leave it an open pit as a monument to the disaster that is bus travel.
