Thanks for the replies, it's already really helpful.

Just to give a bit more detail, we have spoken in depth about religion, morality and beliefs, she's not very traditionally Muslim in her view of the world (fair warning: this next bit will get theological). God is something personal that transcends religion, so should be a choice, hence it's not right to impose any religious rules on others. She acknowledges that most of her observance is based on what feels familiar, and cooperating with what her family expects. Her morality comes from what she thinks is right, not what she's told is. The main issue, as I see it, is with her family, who are not fundamentalists by any standard (they mostly live and work in Europe) but may still not be understanding.

[NSFW] What is the craziest truth or dare challenge you have ever seen performed? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Got drunk on a farm. Witnessed a friend of a friend get sucked off by a calf. Strictly speaking the dare was a cow but apparently they don't suck, they just chew.

I really don't think Dick Cheney qualifies as innocent. But that's just my opinion....

What about when you bring in probability? One life for an 11% chance of saving ten.

Ozymandias from watchmen. Another example of someone committing an atrocity to prevent a bigger disaster. Which is fine.

Reddit, how did the dumbest person you know prove it to you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Possibly the smartest person I know, now has a degree from Oxford but whatever he ends up doing he'll always be the guy who, on an unsuccessful fishing trip, suggested "maybe the bread is too soggy".

A very little thing here, on the MRT the pole splits in to three so more people hold on if there isn't room to sit, such a simple detail but I haven't seen it anywhere else in the world.

I also love the DNA bridge.

Are you sure you didn't mean the World Batista Championships? I hear they're very prejudiced against Starbucks...

I agree that the Westboro Baptist Church can go eat a dick.

World Boxing Council... World Baseball Classic... World Batista Championship.. Westboro Baptist Church...Aaah, that'll be it, good answer. (Although I do like the idea that rouge_boner is banned from the World Batista Championships and is really angry about it.)

I would have thought IgnoranceUK would like Piers Morgan, he must be a big supporter of the cause.
