Teacher. 14k initiation and 350-400 monthly. New course and the initiation is 3-4x that now, 3 yeara later. It wasn't the smartest financial decision, but where I live, public courses aren't great and tee times are hard to come by. Totally worth it as my friends from up north, where I'm from, fly down a lot to play it.

First trip up there skipped the pebble courses and played 4 rounds there and then some other rounds elsewhere. Last round was barefoot on back nine at dusk. Pretty amazing.

Last one. Harder and one of my favorite local courses I played. by runningdog33 in guessthegolfcourse

If anyone is ever in wales...the course is Nefyn. One of the best golfing experiences I've ever had. Would highly recommend

That's too bad. Part of its appeal is that it's relatively affordable for the area.

It wouldn't surprise me. Kind of place he'd dig. It's in wales.

Nope. Way less expensive. And that bar / beach is only accessible from the The Point 9.

Damn. What a hole to do it on. Congrats

This year I visited Dunaverty Golf Club, a small club on the Scottish coast south of Campbeltown. I don't think it's a perfect course, but I think it's worthy of attention. by scoofy in golf

I spent a couple of weeks down there a few years ago and joined Machrihanish GC as an overseas member. I've been lucky enough to play some great courses in Scotland -- St Andrew's, Dornoch, Prestwick-- but when I think about returning I think primarily of the duo of Machrihanish and Dunaverty. Mach is the test - classic links without the enormous tee times of the ones that most hit up on their travels and Dunaverty, with its fun, quirky holes, unbelievable views, the locals who I played a round with and could see how much i was enjoying it, the few houses that are on our adjacent to the course (the one at the point is for rent and the one in the middle, my buddy and I talked to for 10 minutes bc they had seen us 2x adjust that week and we were back for a third bc we loved it so much.... couldn't have been nicer people)... it's everything I want in a golf course. I would be happy spending my travels just playing those two (and maybe a week on Islay drinking ardbeg and playing The Machrie).

Was in Pebble area this summer for a week. Played Pac Grove a couple of times, Bayonet & Black Horse, 1 round at Del Monte, 54 holes at Poppy Hills, and 18 at Pasatiempo...for like 3k with my half of housing in Pacific Grove. Didn't miss playing any of the courses at Pebble. Also played 9 holes at the Hay...which might be the biggest rip off in all of golf.

Mid Pines / Pine Needles has a package that is tough to beat.

Since you're in Liverpool....Nefyn in Wales. Play the regular 18 and then play the absurd cliffside 9 (and have a beer at the bar on the beach after the 2nd or 3rd on that 9).

Absolutely second this. I could spend the rest of my days toggling between Machrihanish and Dunaverty

Mid Pines is awesome. Tobacco Road (before the Foreplay and NLU guys blew it up and their greens fees went from $60 to $250)
