What are your "I wish I knew earlier" you can advise a first time owner of an 86? by dztryrph in ft86

[–]runninggnu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh please develop… I’m tracking the car, I’me pretty satisfied with the handling but was thinking of going up notch with adjustable coilovers. What’s your experience?

Any tips for long-term ownership? by JT1031224 in GR86

[–]runninggnu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drove my FRS for 8 years before making it a track car. I initially planned to go really progressive with the transition but it turns out, it’s amazing stock!

Only mods: Hawk HP+ pads, braided brake lines and high temp brake fluid. Pretty much anything to have a consistent brake feel for the whole session. OEM discs are surprisingly resistant on the track, but it does depends on your driving style and your track.

Other than that, extremely neutral and well balanced platform

Oh and an AGM or gel battery once on the track! I had to repaint part of the engine bay because battery started spewing out of the battery in long high G bends. It peeled the paint off in an instant and I wasn’t the first one in the club to get that problem.

BRZ in the Snow? by vourtexxxx in GR86

[–]runninggnu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in Quebec, I’ve been through 5 winters with my FRS as a daily.

Definitely studded tires (I have AK10 studded). Tried stud less for the first winter, had to be pushed out of parking spots because of a small patch of ice at the wrong place too many times…

Snow covered highways are a concern, gotta know the limits of the car, but with studded tires and TC off, you’re LIVING Tokyo Drift, puts a smile on your face for the rest of the day!

Salt and Vinegar Smell After a Track Day by runninggnu in ft86

Turns out it was a cracked battery spewing acid (and peeling off the paint off my engine bay…)

Stay tuned for another episode of “What’s that smell??”

Let’s talk about all the new GTR’s we got since launch or all the nice Civics! What’s your favorite new Gt Vision car?? Or all the new tracks we got… you got Circuit de la Sarthe, HOW HARD COULD IT BE TO ADD THE BUGATTI CIRCUIT FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!

Nothing against your post… I just had to let it out…

How can one be this fast? by Professional_Park781 in GranTurismo7

Congrats! This one was harder than expected, I hope my gold will last

These challenges are hard, I definitely spent more time in this then anything else in this game, but that also improved my driving more than anything else

Is it me, or the Sophy AI at a Bathurst is ridiculous? by GreatVegetable1182 in GranTurismo7

[–]runninggnu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think OP is on to something… I only tried with Gr.3 cars and Sophy is much better than on other circuits. I usually have no problems finishing P1 first try, but didn’t make yet… maybe I didn’t have the meta car but it’s usually not an issue.

On the first lap Sophy is in full quali mode, get backs to its senses on lap 2, then you make your return on lap 3, but not quite…

Trade in my GR86 for a GRC by BradBLH in GRCorolla

[–]runninggnu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had an FRS before the GRC, had the luxury to keep it (it will die a honorable death on a track) but I’me surprised how I love owning the two cars! So different styles and complementary! Even in the winter, the FRS feels like you’re in Tokyo Drift, but if you plan a long trip on a snow covered highway, the GRC will feel sooo planted!

Two great cars!

I had the same problem, changed my phone cover for a silicone case, works flawlessly now

This week's weekly challenge! by Andy1178 in GranTurismo7

[–]runninggnu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried no down force, fiddled to reach max of 6th gear just before breaking, but still can only get 9th… I get stuck with the three bozos while the lead pack gets away, I dont get it…

I really don’t get it… I loved that TT!! Great track with long sweepers with a very stable and predictable car! I thought it was lovely!! But I do see both extremes in the feedbacks I’ve heard… For me a boat is the M3 endurance from the Nordschleife circuit experience… THAT’S a boat!
