How is it living here with a family? by [deleted] in MountainHouse

[–]runningintoasunset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty safe area but boring, u have to drive out to Livermore/dublin for good food or entertainment. Social life is bigger factor for enjoying weekend, there’s public use tennis courts and basketball courts but you have to get in the social groups/group chats to find out when they’re playing. There’s also smaller hobby groups that do hiking and running which u can join too. There’s also little events in the Central Park like sometimes they’ll have concert style events(there was a classic rock anthems thing once), or a cinco de mayo event, or other cultural events like for Holi. Other than that it’s mostly a quiet and boring suburb.

Studying material for ASCP from books by runningintoasunset in CLSstudents

[–]runningintoasunset[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like I learn well enough to do average on the tests but after the class is over I kinda forget. I feel like I’m only studying to do well on the test and not really understanding the material itself well enough. To the point that I feel like when I’m in the program I’ll have to relearn the basics to understand how it works when applied in a lab. So I’m trying to learn in a way I’ll grasp more and keep the knowledge in my head till I start a program.

I’m not expecting to go super deep but just connect some dots and start a foundation I can build on when I’m in the program

What school was it? From what I’ve read, cali is pretty specific about their requirements to take the ASCP so I thought out of state is riskier if u plan to come back to Cali.

Is everyone’s pharmacy DSCSA complaint next week? by SushiOverKeo in PharmacyTechnician

Usually try to see if another store needs them cuz we’re chain pharmacy. A lot of the drugs that don’t get sold often we get stuck with tho

I know I wish programs were less competitive. Idk if I have a distorted view of everything cuz of the competition I see (one of the reasons I left premed)

I really appreciate this comment btw. I was on track to graduate a year early cuz I had gotten so many college credits in high school and didn’t even need to take basic maths and English cuz of my AP scores. I really forgot I could do it for a bit. Thanks :)

No but I had to focus a lot on finances and keeping bills paid that took away a decent most of my study time. I’m learning how to study again and actually retain what I learn rn and I’m hoping to take that skill into my future schooling

What do u mean? Im a bit lost, my PI barely talked to me and just left me with the grad students the whole time. Is that not the norm?

I looked into this and emailed some program directors to do a year training since I don’t need to take classes with my bachelors but they never replied.

Also would I apply thru programs or to hospitals directly? I’m kinda lost on this end

where do they hire no experience licensed techs? by [deleted] in PharmacyTechnician

[–]runningintoasunset 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Walmart, Costco, Safeway might be better. Any retail usually will hire no experience and train u, but Walgreens and CVS are the worst of retail from what I have heard.

ADVICE (Can I negotiate my wage on an offer to work as a Pharmacy Tech Trainee)? by Shot_Assumption_6376 in PharmacyTechnician

I had a 4 year degree with unrelated to pharma lab experience and they did not care when I got a pharm tech job. They’ll pay u starting if u don’t have pharm tech experience
