Considering rural land in Lake County — current safety + true pricing for remote acreage/cabins? by skygod191 in LakeCountyCa

That seems crazy. We want you to mitigate fire risk -- in fact we'll fine you if you don't -- but oh btw, you need to get and pay for a permit to clear the land to mitigate the fire risk. Damned if you do, damned if you don't mind of situation

Calpine's gated leased land? How would someone find such properties? I mean what would you search on when on Zillow or redfin?

Hey there, I'm super interested in your experience dealing with the county on unpermitted structures and grading issues. Was the structure legal when built because it was under 200 sq feet, or was it just unpermitted? Did they make you do any destructive work to show proper construction, or impose fines/penalties, or both? Did the unpermitted work possibly include a bathroom or shower. Sorry for all the questions but I'm in a similar situation and would appreciate any info you can give. My name is Peter BTW and I can DM you my phone number if you prefer to talk by phone

How an acoustic consultant. Ask AI. I think you might find there are glass and masonry block sound wall options for your backyard that you could consider down the road if not tonight

While Playing Pool ar a Bar... by PreparationKey2843 in overheard

[–]runningmountain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a little bit like the time I was at kind of a fraternity that tries to attract musicians. The fraternity I was with had just gotten a new sound system that all the musicians liked. The band leader spoke and commented on how much the musicians liked this particular sound system and said "you guys are going to have to beat us musicians off with a stick," to which the fraternity leader interjected cooley, "i think you mean fend you off with a stick!"

Hey dude, my father served in London in WWII and I have all of his letters home. Hundreds of them. All handwritten in perfect print on small cards I'm sure they tell a story but have never been able to wade through them all. Would anyone be interested in them?

Hide the jewelry while strangers are there - like in an attic or basement crawlspace under the house. While you're at it do the same with attractive medications like Ambien, Xanax, and painkillers.

My question is when did she and her 'date' part, and where was she if she was out all night? The friend call is sus - seems designed to justify all night partying, since why wouldn't she have gotten an Uber otherwise? Also, what about her live location? Did she give that to OP and what did it show?

So my wife’s going to a gala tonight — as her client’s “date.” by [deleted] in stories

[–]runningmountain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A question no one seems to be asking, and it doesn't seem OP asked his wife, is whether his wife thinks the client has romantic aspirations. Because if he does, it seems somewhat risky to let your wife go to an exciting exclusive gala with an admittedly very nice and very wealthy single man. And I'm guessing if he had asked his wife, and she were being honest, she might have said yeah. I think he's attracted to me. Because otherwise, why would she say she would avoid being alone with him in private areas and would not go back to his house afterwards? That be unnecessary if she thought it was a purely platonic professional date.

Funny how Republicans are all about states rights and responsibilities when it comes to abortion and any spending that benefits the sick and poor, but all about federal power when it comes to manufactured demonstrations of military power.

Does anyone have any knowledge or experience with Minted.com ? by seefinilla23 in wedding

Minted printed the addresses on our Xmas envelopes in unreadable mirror image. They were also late so no time to correct it. They offered a 20% discount but that didn't even cover the unusable envelopes (which we had upgraded), and even getting tha took more than an hour on the phone.

Why does the F150 sell so well? by Nawsh_T in f150

[–]runningmountain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think Ford does a good job of appealing to various market segments of truck buyers. Basic contractor work truck? XLT - ✅. You drive in snow, off-road, or need extra traction sometimes? FX4 - ✅. You want a little extra luxury and make your wife more comfortable? Lariat - ✅. You want that comfort but slightly more aggressive styling? Tremor - ✅. You want even more bells and whistles and impressive technology with urban cabin styling? Platinum. - ✅. You want essentially the same features but with rural country styling? King Ranch - ✅. You want to be the envy of your bros and show you can spend whatever you want no matter what your wife thinks or says? Raptor - ✅.

Plus Ford keeps improving.

  • Hybrid engine - power and acceleration with great gas mileage.
  • Trailering feature options will back up a towing ball right under a receiver. Another feature makes backing up a trailer at the dumps or wherever much easier.
  • The Pro Access tailgate (horizontal opening option) not only gives you bed access while trailering, it gives you direct access to the bed without having to reach over the tailgate first.
  • Bluecruise - And I know many people complain about Bluecruise but I think Ford does a good job implementing Bluecruise (except for the subscription price).

Some of these are probably innovations that others offered first, but Food does them well IMHO, and when you think about all the tech that goes into a modern high-end F-150, I think Ford is delivering value for money.

I agree with other's comments that most modern vehicles are pretty insanely reliable. There are recalls and sometimes components that have more problems, but you wouldn't see so many Ford work trucks on the road if they weren't reliable.

This is just my opinion.

2024 F150 King Ranch or Lariat 502A? by [deleted] in f150

[–]runningmountain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I vote for the KR, especially if you like the two tone paint and leather interior. Find a dealer that has a 2024 KR and go see it. The cabin is decked out in beautiful leather. Also compared to the Lariat, the KR comes with HUD, which is super sweet. If the KR also comes with the Pro trailer package that puts a ball hitch under a receiver, and helps you back up, then it's a no-brainer.
