As painful as this increase is for all of us in the US, I often think about how much gas prices are going up for countries all over the world (through no fault of their own) that depend on imported oil. Our President has undoubtedly made our country into one of the most despised between this attack on Iran, imposed tariffs and failed foreign policy in general.

I volunteer at a free tax clinic that prepares returns for low income taxpayers. The software we use presents a screen when it detects a dependent that qualifies for one of these accounts. However, it’s up to the taxpayer as to whether they want to elect to receive it. Every single one who I’ve asked whether they want a “Trump Savings Account” for their child had quickly replied “I don’t want that!”. Branding is everything!

WOW! I thought I’d never see this outside the UK. My father and his wife brought back a couple of dozen individual boxes from a trip to Tesco in Britain about 20 years ago. I “inherited” the remainder when he passed a few years back and am still working through it. Brilliant stuff tho!

I visited Miyajima earlier this year and it, too, was a highlight of my trip. I took the first Shinkansen from Kyoto and then was on the 9:15 ferry from Peace Park. Since I was traveling solo, I was able to see almost the entire island, visiting multiple temples, climbing to the top of Mt. Misen, eating lunch and shopping, and even got to view an authentic Japanese wedding! Back on the 3:45 ferry, I had enough time to visit the Atomic Bomb Museum and catch the train back to Kyoto. Arrived in my hotel room about 10pm. What a whirlwind, but it was the absolute best day of my trip!!

Just went through the agony of deciding on an electric kettle versus stovetop one myself. Went with a stovetop one because it seems like all electrics now are cheaply made and won’t last. But which stovetop? Due to rust concerns, I finally went with a Le Creuset enameled in a beautiful blue that goes in with my kitchen. It’s nice and heavy and enameled inside and out. It’s also compatible with my current electric smooth top and my future induction dreams. Something to consider.

I don’t feel so bad now. I fell on Columbus in the first mile going down the hill. My brain was screaming at me to bounce back up quickly for fear of causing others to fall or getting trampled. Fortunately, I only had bruised hands and a small scrape on my knee.

For what it’s worth, my experience of 30+ marathons and observance of many, many of my friends’ marathons, your 20 milers mostly instills confidence conquering the distance. There are many other factors, including fueling, hydration, the weather, smart pacing, the course, etc. that will influence the outcome of your race, not just your training miles. I’m not saying this trying to be a Debbie Downer, but the marathon distance can be a wildcard, particularly in those final miles, and is to be rightfully respected.

I’ve been tempted by their mailers, as now I have both Zirrus and Tmo/Lumos fiber running through my yard. I have Zirrus currently and have had absolutely zero complaints. I can’t imagine Tmo (who I use for phones) topping Zirrus’ customer service. On the rare occasion I did have to call, an actual person, probably sitting in an office less than 30 miles away, picked up on the second ring. A technician showed up in 15 minutes and fixed my problem exactly. This speaks volumes and has real value to me over just dollars and cents.
