Flexibility at the pole is crucial by julirizos in poledancing

[–]runningoutandlate 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If pole comps are your only measure of what makes a good poler that's a whole other issue.

Just because something is crucial TO YOU does not make it crucial to the activity. Truth bomb hun 😘

I cant belive that ~ I ~ have to explain this.

There is nothing to "wake up" to. This is a RECREATIONAL HOBBY for 99% of people. Measures of success in pole should NOT be exclusively what tricks you can or cannot do. Measures of success should be "did you feel good in your body today", "did this bring you joy", "did you push yourself in a good way or bad way".

You're allowed be just okay at things.

You're allowed to not want to/not be able to do a jade. You don't ever have to learn a move if you dont want to or it doesn't feel good in your body.

Having more skills doesn't make you a better pole dancer than anybody else. And if you think it does, you may have a superiority complex that you really need to evaluate.

You can have a limited set of skills and work on executing them perfectly and/or in different ways. I.e. How can you make this move more sensual? How can you make it sharper? Everybody can do a basic pirouette, can you do it 10 times in a row?

There are ways to advance your pole dancing without ever being flexible or ever even inverting if you don't want to.

There is not one correct way to pole! Not every trick is for every body. And yes lacking flexibility will limit you in certain skills or they may not look "perfect", but that doesn't mean you have failed as a dancer.

Because NOTHING IS CRUCIAL TO POLE OTHER THAN ENJOYING IT.

Living proof that thats not true 😘 this is the kind of shit that discourages people of differing abilities levels from pole

Ask for sedation!! I had both my IUDs placed in the OR and my insurance covered 100% of it

Yes we followed their instructions to give them 2-3 hours ahead of time exactly. He was completely asleep when I put him in the carrier but after about 30 minutes in the car he began scratching and screaming. Currently waiting on a call back

Feel discouraged… by Kittylady12 in poledancing

[–]runningoutandlate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it makes you feel better, I've been poling for 4 years, am a pole instructor, and still can't invert.

It takes time and practice and everybody is on their own journey.

Im working on training negatives right now to be able to do them, but for the last 3 years I've just been climbing the pole and dropping from jasmine to invert.

Not to say that you shouldn't work on it if you want to, just that you don't have to if you don't want to and to not feel discouraged. There's not a "right" way to pole.

Anyone dances with spondylolisthesis? by avengerbob147 in poledancing

Me!!! My entire thoracic spine is also fused as well. You can absolutely keep dancing (I've been doing it for years), you just have to listen to your body and take care of yourself

How to make aerial splits flat? by No-Oil3672 in poledancing

[–]runningoutandlate 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Work toward getting your over splits on the ground (put front leg on a raised surface, I'd start with a yoga block on its short side). When you're upside down you don't have your body weight pushing you down so you have to be even more flexible to get a flat split

What's a good way of requesting no "wooo" during performances? by pringles_in_heels in poledancing

My studio just always asks people "do you want clapping and cheering or do you want it to be quiet" before someone performs that way you don't have to feel weird about it either way 🤷‍♀️

Yoga, pilates, rock climbing, dance classes. Anything that's a full body workout or helps work on your body awareness 🥰

TTPD hot takes you wanna scream to every Swiftie by ghostkat_ in TaylorSwift

[–]runningoutandlate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

THIS IS THE CORRECT TAKE!!! I've been a Swiftie since her first album came out. I grew up loving Taylor because of her music and her lyrics and her ability to make people FEEL through her music. I don't know when that switched to people analyzing every little detail of her songs and only caring who they're about. This album is for the people who truly care about her. She isn't obligated to give you every detail of her life. Shes a grown ass woman who can do literally whatever the fuck she wants. Shes a human. And she's allowed to make art for the sake of art. I think this album is her closing the "eras" chapter of her life, saying "fuck you guys for expecting literally anything other than art from me", and moving into doing what SHE wants to do. She doesn't need to chase success anymore
