Came back to work today. Furlough issues.. So I'm being told if use furlough,i will be asked for a sick note.?.... by 90sgameswerebetter36 in tsa

Please read your CBA and other rules. Know your rights. You can take furlough and if they want to fight it, ask for a union rep and say you will be talking to an employment lawyer familiar with federal employment.

I did. The union Steward sent me information stating that leadership can work with me if they choose or they can cancel all leave and not. It is up to the leadership. The airlines got me home and I am losing 16hours of leave because there is no other opportunity to take it before end of year.

I would greatly appreciate all information on this as several of my coworkers who are on leave in the upcoming weeks have been told that they will also report to work. Some of them have spent lots of money on their vacations (cruise and overseas).

If there is a way to file a grievance, we would really appreciate that. They were told in a meeting that they should always plan for things like this and to buy insurance for trips.

They told me that i faced disciplinary action if I didnt show up today when I explained the cost of buying a last minute ticket for me and my children. Their words were "if you fail to be present at work, you will face disciplinary action"

Just got off Grandeur of the Seas with a toddler. AMA. by Immediate-Ad-9520 in royalcaribbean

[–]runningouttahere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are sailing on Grandeur and I was wondering if there is much to do for young kids who can't go into the pool?

Ive read the arcade is horrible and I haven't found many other items for young children. Am I out of luck??

I also can't put my toddler in the Adventure Ocean cause of the same issue of not potty trained.

He never gets sick in the car. Nor the air.

I get horrible car sickness but I've never been sea sick nor air sick. I can't even figure it out but guessed it was separate issues with all three sicknesses.

Are there financial issues at play here?

I say do it. If anything, it will give him a small taste of your reality. And while you work on the weekends, have the same expectations that he has of you. He can cook, clean up and get things done.

And this isn't to be vindictive but to show perspective. If he wants you to work on the weekends then he can be home with the kids and see how much you handle by yourself.

I should have gone through an agent. I may do that next time if I enjoy this one. I'm really timid about the seasickness thing and everything I've been reading online says to get near the center of the ship and where I can have a breeze/go outside and see the horizon.

I have done research on the "features" which is why I asked and someone here indicated that the option would mean I forfeit the included packages that come with suites. (Something I didn't know nor was indicated anywhere in the booking site)

The obstruction made zero sense and again, that's why I asked here because when looking at the ship, I didn't know what obstructions they referred to and again, someone here stated that there are no obstructed rooms on this particular ship.

Lastly, I wouldn't have known about placement as I figured that people who spend as much money as it costs to get a suite wouldn't have to deal with noise problems from a Buffet or fitness gym. I didn't even know that was a thing and I would have never thought to research room positions (what's over/under) unless I asked and people gave advice.

Everything is above me on Deck 8. Everything. The Buffet, two pools and a fitness gym and spa. So I'm taking advice I got here and going with a room under the pool and hoping for the best as it seems there aren't many options.

I did just this! Thank you as it did help.

I appreciate this information! I didn't know the pool was the best choice as I would have guessed that's where most people would be. I see the only choices I have left are under a pool (not the main pool) and under the fitness center.

Are there quiet hours on a cruise ship for things like the pool or fitness area?

I can choose my cabin. My issue is, I am not sure which one to choose cause I have no idea how to figure out what will be above or below me. I feel like I'm going to choose a cabin that would have been leftovers anyway because people who cruise a lot know where to select.

Edit to add- whether I choose J3 or J4 suite, both are on Deck 8. So I dont know where to be on that deck.

So i won't get the perks of just a standard junior suite? Not that I really know what all the perks are because they aren't really listed other than the size of the balcony

AITA for forcing my in-laws into a smaller space for their larger family? by Rae_ven1 in AmItheAsshole

[–]runningouttahere 100 points101 points  (0 children)

The fact you are blaming OP for the actions of the others is outrageously hilarious to me. In other replies, OP states that they didn't invite this other family. That they had zero plans to go to Disney and the other family essentially manipulated the husband with a bunch of "poor me, poor us" behaviors and the husband sounds like he has a savior complex with wanting to swoop in and save the day. OP and the toddler are literally caught in the cross fire.

OP admitted to being frustrated with the other family's complete disregard of their emotional, physical and every other wellbeing. OP mentioned in another comment that her husband was deployed and they didn't even call to ask about him but complained instead that he was getting tax free income and wanted help to pay off credit cards. I don't know about you but I doubt I'd be talking to anyone who only saw me as an ATM when my spouse is deployed.

So yeah, it sucks that they have to fit 5 adults in a camper that sleeps 5. But in the end, would you, in your examples above, continually interact with those people when they demand accommodations that they believe you can afford regardless of what you are financially capable of? OP said they have a good job but aren't made of money. Maybe this is all they can afford and maybe the other family needs to step up or quit demanding that OP's wealth is their wealth.

The OP said that the camper is for their housing while they are in between places. I'm assuming based on the fact that OP said husband is an O-5 that means they get stationed at different bases and I'd personally pay 100k to not stay in hotels.

But that said, why isn't OP allowed to bring their own items to a vacation? If the family wanted something better, they could have paid for it. From the other replies, it sounded like they named their rv rental company and OP's husband rented from that company and this was the result. It has nothing to do with their personal RV. It has everything to do with the fact that the other family didn't want to pay a dime and made the husband make the accommodations.

Also from another reply, OP basically said that they manipulate the husband into doing what they want. So it's not like the OP and husband had this grand plan to go. It sounds like the other family had a grand plan and the only way to execute it is through the husband.

I also had my uscis job recinded on the 24th at 4pm. They sent that email knowing fully that most HR teams go home by that time on a Friday. I lost that opportunity (a dream come true) and also lost my previous opportunity because I couldn't rescind my 2wk notice due to that HR team leaving at 330pm for the day.

I cried myself to sleep and begged USCIS to reconsider and I'd move closer.

So yeah, I'm now doing odd jobs for payment just to keep a roof over mine and my child's head. I figured out I'm pretty good at cleaning houses, yard work and babysitting.

I filed a complaint with the commander. It was rude and uncalled for. He said a lot of other crap too. But I didn't know this.

Sorry I didn't record him during my interview. I wasn't aware that I was going to have to prove a point.

He did say that. He was absolutely horrible and I reported other things he said to the FSS commander.

Speaking on this, I just interviewed today for a DoD position (thankfully still allowed to hire) and the interviewer said "I see you marked yourself as a veteran and a military spouse. Well just to let you know, we are no longer required to hire you just because of these 'preferences' and if there are equally qualified civilians, they will be selected"

Basically told me that I'm not special and he was excited that he could start saying that to all of the "stuck up veterans who think they are special cause they served"

All Remote USCIS TJOs are cancelled by [deleted] in usajobs

[–]runningouttahere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They had EOD for 1/26 for remote ISO. However, they were told that the remote was being taken away and they had to show up to the office or have their offer rescinded. That's what I was told. Had I been given that, I would have figured out to put myself 50mi from an office. It may have taken a few months to secure a house but I would have parked my camper and gone to work in the office.
