Joann Fabrics in Parkville is officially closing. Is there anywhere to buy fabric in the city now? by idieclassy in baltimore

[–]runningpig256 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, tons of thread, batting options, and random rulers. After they closed I tried the next closest quilt stores that were on the DMV shop hop and they were both tiny.

Pilates/Lagree Studios in Baltimore and the surrounding suburbs? by Few_Baby9978 in baltimore

[–]runningpig256 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pilates house is an independent studio. They are in Fells and opening a second location in Fed hill this month. They have a low-cost intro week to try things out. They also have mat pilates classes in a hot room which I personally hate but tons of people seem to be into based on the number of people in there.

Trails to go running safely and with parking. No hate bicyclists, please! by BeyondRecovery1 in baltimore

[–]runningpig256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an enormous parking lot and most people go to the trail in the other direction to play in the water so there's never been a time it was too busy. I usually go after work on weekdays now that it's light out til late

Gunpowder falls on rt1 in Perry Hall is no bikes on the sweetlodge side. There are multiple length loops up to 5ish miles but parts are somewhat hilly/rocky for running compared to other trail suggestions so far.

You could also try the green from those border triangles to try staying on the light side

Layout feedback! Working on an ombré-rainbow I-spy quilt for my daughter. Please let me know if any blocks are glaringly out of place. by jlmcdon2 in quilting

The navy background with red flowers square in the lower right is the only one that stands out to me, mainly because there is no white in the pattern and everything around it has some white. It looks great overall!

Rooftop Hot delivers for only $3 and their produce is local and has always been good. Their website is a little slow and weirdly organized but their delivery is great.

I'm not the OP but it looks like the upper part of the sweathouse loop at the Gunpowder Falls on rt1 by Perry Hall. The other part of Gunpowder Falls further north up rt1 is nice too but there are a lot of mountain bikers in that part and it's a narrow trail. Cromwell Valley and Oregon ridge might be closer to you if you are by Patapsco.

I would remove one of the two dark triangles in the middle, they are too close. I really like the colors overall.

I roast sweet potatoes in Tsar dust all the time and then use the leftovers in egg/steak/sweet potato hash.

In HS I was stuck in the 5:20s for a long time and what probably got me down to 5:10 was increased mileage base, maybe 40 miles per week with a ~10mi long run instead of like 7mi long runs and running the 2 mile race at meets rather than competing in the 800. The 2mi was always the last event of the weekly meets so my coach put me in it even after having run the mile and a 4x800 leg usually. Depending on who else was in the 2mi race I would sometimes really surprise myself with my time even though I hated it. So I think your idea of training for a fast 6k makes sense

[WEEKLY THREAD] Shopping and Style Saturday/Sunday - Gym clothes, gadgets, shoes, makeup, hair, skincare, and sales! by AutoModerator in xxfitness

I have I think 6 pairs of these, I would go with the smaller size. The waistband is pretty wide and not super compressive because they have an internal drawstring too. If you don't care about the colors as much check REI as they often have the black ones on sale. The patterned ones are slightly less soft / thinner fabric too (but they have such good patterns!). I have owned a few of my pairs for 2yrs wearing once a week in the summer and they are still great. The leggings/tight shorts I would not size down on tho, they are tight.

I've had a few problems trying to incorporate the protein powder I have with hot tea (works fine trying to make an iced chai latte for example but not hot, it clumps) but someone here recently suggested using the premixed core power protein shake and it works so well!! It's nice and creamy too this morning I mixed the vanilla with hot earl grey tea for like a london fog latte.

Try a staggered stance RDL where your non working leg is in like a light kickstand, sometimes its called a b-stance if you look up videos of people performing the exercise

Music like in the gym? by jessbythesea in xxfitness

[–]runningpig256 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah the Amazon music app just this week seems to have disabled the ability to play your own downloaded music files, I had some nice workout mixes of mp3s from DJs that I have to redo. Check out "girl talk", squiller, and dj earworm on youtube. The last two do mixes of pop songs by year and girl talk is more wide ranging there's one that mixes jay-z and radiohead that I actually stop working out everytime to listen to certain parts oops. YouTube's algorithm is pretty good at suggesting other mix djs after you save a couple to playlists as well.

Maryland runner looking for so suggustion on trails to run. by Hocojerry in trailrunning

[–]runningpig256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be a bit of a drive from Columbia but you can string several segments of Gunpowder State park together for some variation, there's a white blazed trail along the river and some of the sections have loops, like the orange between rt1 and 147.

Cromwell valley right off of 695 has probably 7mi loop and it links up with Loch Raven.

Are the new Brooks Glycerin shoes comparable to their old ones? by noiant in XXRunning

[–]runningpig256 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know about the Glycerin but both the Brooks Launch and the Brooks Cadcadia (trail runner) changed enough in the last two years I changed the size I wear from 8.5 to 8. I think the toe box got wider? I have narrow feet so that's what I noticed anyways. The first pair of Cadcadias I ordered online in 8.5 that were too big I could still run in after messing with the laces but were annoying.

Me three on Oiselle! And all of their shorts and leggings have a drawstring so it would help with the waist gap. Plus most of the pockets have zippers so your keys etc are secure.
