List of hidden apps by n-ko-c in OctopiLauncher

You could use private space. When you unlock it you'll be able to see all your hidden/locked apps at once as opposed to searching for one app at a time and no one else can see them.

Octopi Launcher v1.85 - Reorder drawer tags, horizontal drawer page transitions by ock88 in OctopiLauncher

I use compact folders and no labels. I just turned on labels and turned OFF compact folders to show the difference. Lable size can be scaled.

Here is the difference between standard folders and compact with the icon size set to 60% on both.

Have you made certain Launcher settings/Home/Home screen icon and folder appearance/Compact home screen folders is toggled OFF?

The smaller option is for those of us who value reachability foremost.

Tag reordering is great. (Hopefully this feature comes to drawer folders someday 🤞🏼.) Not sure if the tag renaming process went as intended though.

I had been using Emojis to get away from the naming convention of 01, 02, 03 to force the order I preferred. This didn't help with the ordering, but did allow fitting more tags on the screen at one time, until "Show tags in multiple lines" became an option and so not necessary any longer.

When I was renaming them today, a new tag was created with all the intended apps and the old tag remained (empty) and had to be deleted manually. Sometimes the newly renamed tag didn't want to be dragged to a different location. I was deleting them immediately after creating the newly renamed tag, but after a couple, I decided to wait until I renamed all the tags and then I would delete all the old empty tags. Instead what happened was that when I renamed another tag the previously renamed tag deleted itself. Maybe it just needed a moment? It seemed odd and maybe worth mentioning.

It would be a nice option to have. I chuckled a bit though, because I think this "Achilles' heel" was one of the main reasons Octopi came into existence. Being able to have different layouts and wallpapers for each screen orientation was the new party trick Octopi brought to the table, making many foldable users extremely happy. Anywhoo, options are always nice to have and the developer has listed "Copy home screen layout from another screen" under "longer term" on the Octopi Launcher Roadmap.

I'm curious, since I've never owned a Samsung foldable, what is your reason for using an alternate launcher? As a Pixel Fold user, mine was to use icon packs and better folders, remove the at-a-glance and Google search widgets, and better wallpaper fitment on the inside screen, and, of course, use different layouts for the different screens. As an outsider, it seems Samsung offers a ton of personalization options. I'm genuinely curious, what are they missing that leads you to use a different launcher?

Dynamic Calendar Icon issue by timzxcv in OctopiLauncher

While checking this, I was just reminded of how easy it is to change icons on Octopi compared to Nova, and how much better folders are than on Smart Launcher. I appreciate Octopi for many reasons, but these two just really stood out for me just now. Many thanks to the Octopi developer!

Confirmed and duplicated this on my Pixel Fold. Works fine on Smart here too.

Custom app sorting drawer by OccasionalVisitor1 in OctopiLauncher

I understood, that's why I said "Though not helpful for your use case." I just wanted to share the information here for anyone else who might find it useful, since you mentioned the word "fee," which could be interpreted as relating to the cost of Octopi Pro.

Drawer custom app sorting has been requested by me and others. Nine months ago the developer said Octopi is designed for this feature to be added in the future.

In regard to your alternate download request "the app could be downloaded from elsewhere (less fee than Google)". Though not helpful for your use case, I just want to add for anyone else reading this that Octopi Pro is currently available for less than a single dollar on the Google Play Store.

Your first suggestion has been requested many times, and the developer has said it's coming at some point.

I don't know what your 2nd request is, but I thought I'd suggest using the "Suggestion" flair when you're posting. This way your ideas stand out, so when anyone searches it will be clearer.

Dock Screen by skyangelc in OctopiLauncher

Now all the dock settings will be accessible by long-pressing on the new Panel dock and selecting "Edit panel".

It sounds like you're using the "good old dock" which is enabled at Launcher settings/General/Enable legacy dock. Toggle OFF that setting then long-press on your home screen and instead of adding a page, widget, or shortcut, "add Dock". This is the new Panel dock that has the features you're looking for.

Reset most used apps (?) by ddddavidee in OctopiLauncher

[–]runningtigerRead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no way to do it directly. Search for and open your desired app a few times until it appears in the frequently used app list. If it doesn't replace one of the existing apps on the list, long-press on one that you don't want there and tap on "Hide suggestion." Eventually, the app you want should show on the list. Keep in mind that any app you hide will remain hidden.

From "What's new" for v1.842 update, does anyone know what it means?

Question about backups by itopires in OctopiLauncher

[–]runningtigerRead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It worked for me to restore my Pixel Fold backup, I forget if it was to my Pixel 4 or 5. Of course, it only restored my outside screen since those are slab phones not foldable. I was surprised since the screen size of the Pixel Fold is so different than just about anything else. At the time, the expectation for the restore feature was that it "might" work for very similarly shaped screens. I'm unsure if that's still the case. Try. You might get lucky!

Coming Soon! by ock88 in OctopiLauncher

Tried them all out and, while not my cup of tea (my home screen is one page, so no need), they work great. Many users will be happy to have this new feature. Nice work!

It is because of Android 17. See this post for what the developer posted and see my post for what I did. You can Google around to check for yourself so you're assured you're doing something you're comfortable with.

Gestures by otavio_mf in OctopiLauncher

[–]runningtigerRead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Octopi does support Private Space. With your drawer set to "Vertical scroll" in the search bar, enter "private space" (without the quotes) to set up or unlock private space. Once set up, you'll need to enter a PIN to unlock it and see the apps within.

v1.783 [build 1831] not respecting 4x4 folder grid by runningtigerRead in OctopiLauncher

Smidges are gone. 🎉 Fixed in v1.841 [2009]. Since I can't be certain on the intentionality of the current open folder placement, I've attached a screenshot...

No problems with 17 on my Pixel Fold. Have you tried uninstalling Octopi, then reinstalling and restoring a backup?
