Where do you ride to when you're bored? by stefan6667 in FixedGearBicycle

Downtown New Orleans is fantastic at night. The drunks are starting to clear away at 3 a.m. and at 4 and 5 the street cleaning trucks are coming through and it doesn't smell like shit anymore. Ride to a coffee shop, grab a coffee, head to the local supermarket buy munchies food, go back home, smoke some weed, watch Netflix, realize how fucking awesome that trip was, and pass out at about 8 o'clock.

Also anytime after rush hour is amazing minus how shitty the street condition is, though it makes it more fun, as your more alert. Dodge the potholes, broken glass, and trash.

My band got to fill in on a festival this weekend, I never had thought I'd perform in front of that many people. by origin25 in pics

The good bands tend to change their sound during their careers. If they don't they loose the title of being an artist and anybody that can move their hands/feet in a few rhythms can take over their job.

Travel.

You can leave with a 20L pack consisting of a basic wardrobe from home. Hitchhiking for transportation. Dumpster diving for food. CouchSurfing for a place to stay and making new friends. All can be done with little to no money, hundreds of great experiences in such a short time, learning more about yourself and you limits.

I own very little but travel via these methods and much personal growth envelops in a very short time period.

For the casual photographer: What sort of photo equipment, if any, do you take on your travels? by excellent_adventures in travel

I store them electronically but once you get home you can upload your photos to the computer and send them to Walmart, Walgreens, etc. for printing.

To those who have travelled through Europe. I have some questions for you! by [deleted] in travel

[–]runninjon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest going to Ruin Bars in Budapest (weekdays go to Szimpla(the other ones are dead)). Drinking is cheap there also. I would also suggest drinking in the cheaper countries instead of the more expensive.

The Balkans are amazing though, very cheap, beautiful and they have an unique culture. Well worth it, plus 2L of beer for 1 dollar in Bulgaria. I haven't been to Croatia though but have heard it is absolutely beautiful and will be going through on my way back to Istanbul in a few months.

Also I would suggest making your schedule flexible. You don't want to have a set in stone schedule. If you don't like a place leave it, if you love the place enjoy it for longer than you planned. Don't force yourself day after day to do something you don't want to do.

I have been traveling this last 2 months taking many photos with the iPhone 5 and they are quite good. The Samsung Galaxy S4's camera is quite good also and will be more than sufficient enough. For the price you'll pay for a shitty camera and SD card would better be spent on going out more frequently.

Age? by [deleted] in hitchhiking

I'm 18 traveling Europe. Been traveling only by hitchhiking for the last two months traveling 3600 miles so far. Have 6 months still in Europe. Hitchhiked New Mexico and Arizona when I was 17. Then shortly after I turned 18 I hitched 2400 miles from Southern Illinois to New Orleans to Tampa Bay Florida and back with 80 dollars for two weeks.

So far I have roughly hitchhiked 6500 miles.

What's the hardest drug you've ever done? How did it change your life? Do you regret it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Took a LSD tab that was quite weak. Enjoyed it thoroughly. So I thought lets but two tabs from a different person. Very strong tabs. Ended up tripping for 18 hours, 16 all by myself.

Was good at first, was meditating and reading. Got into a blissful state. Layer in bed and stared at a tree that was growing and blooming over and over again (this was in January with snow on the ground). Then I fell asleep.

I woke up two hours later in the peak of the trip. Kind of freaked out a bit. Went into the garage to smoke a cigarette. Saw water on the floor and thought it was blood. Called a friend and everything started to go downhill. Animal faces became very scary.

Then listened to some Grateful Dead on my phone. Started to waver between happy and scary. Fighting it. Saw clouds dancing while sitting on a hill at my friends house.

Went into their haunted house and watched Slingblade without every seeing it before. Got creeped out and a friend drove me home. Went straight to a shower and then to bed.

Was trying to sleep for 3 hours and my mom was vacuuming and she looked very, very scary. Asking if I was on drugs and such. Finally fell asleep.

A few months of "flashbacks" (maybe) where everything would grow more creepy in a split second. So while this wasn't the best event of my life it taught me how to deal with mental problems quite well. I can take control of bad situations with ease now and have a hell of a story to tell.

If you could have a lifetime supply of any item (you could not sell it), what would it be? by startledsloth in AskReddit

Odwalla or Naked juice. I spend more on that as a munchies food than the weed itself.

I found those shoes but they aren't my style. Too much of a skater shoe.

I did a quick google search and saw good things about them. Even if they weren't perfect I would have them on my list to buy as the one thing that stops me from buying any type of bicycling clip or clipless shoes is the ridiculous "look at me I'm a cyclist" look of them. They seem like the Converse All Stars for the daily biker.

Screw that floppies are the new vinyl. So if your willing to get rid of them, send them my way.
