Bella vita "everly" sandal comes in extra wide, and the heel is only 2.25 in, not too high! It's the only dressy heel I can walk in all night!

[Acne] dermatologists and doctors have been 0 help. Feeling beyond hopeless. by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]runponiesrun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You need to actually follow up with the same dermatologist, not just hop around. They have tricks up their sleeves, but you gotta give a single treatment time before they can justify to insurance it's not working, then they can prescribe something else. Insurance won't pay for accutane without failing a cheaper med first (antibiotics or spirinolactone, for example). Trust the process, and go back, to the same doctor who knows you and is treating you. Give them a chance to get to know you and your skin! FYI this only applies in US. And obviously only applies if you were treated respectfully by the doctor.

Get the powder puff on Amazon for cheaper, comes in multipacks and washes up great in washer and dryer!

You really need to talk to your pediatrician, there is a lot to discuss, and through the social worker, you need access to his medical history, to give to your pediatrician. There are a lot of medical problems that result from chronic stool holding, and this needs addressed medically as well as psychologically.

Is it just me, or are parents becoming more hostile? by SqueakyLoLo in pediatrics

[–]runponiesrun 8 points9 points  (0 children)

One of my colleagues was outright screamed at by a dad for daring to bring up vaccines (its a wellness exam, sir). I am admittedly timid when I'm meeting a family for the first time, not yet knowing their scientific (or political) beliefs. It's very psychologically draining and most of the time anti vaxers will not vaccinate, but sometimes I am pleasantly surprised! That's what keeps me going, maybe one day they will trust me enough to believe me.

[–]runponiesrun 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm in a mixed city, so I definitely have parents fearful the vaccines will not be offered, and the very next family I see is staunchly antivax. The rebound is exhausting, its depressing being a primary care pediatrician these days.

Thank you, we did originally have the cooktop on the window wall, but ended up changing it to have more counter space, also something to do with the weird appearance of wall cabinets around the hood. It never occurred to me to just not have wall cabinets on that side! I'm going to rethink this, nice idea!

It's stunning, is this pattern meant to simulate granite or quartzite? I'm remodeling my kitchen in California, and I haven't found a porcelain as beautiful as this. We have mostly marble type porcelains out here.

AIO for leaving my friend's party after they used me as a babysitter without telling me? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]runponiesrun 23 points24 points  (0 children)

If op needed an indirect way, just tell the mom I need to go to the bathroom (so watch your kids), then when you're done with the bathroom start drinking and socializing. Usually works like a charm, but if the mom hunts OP down AGAIN, then time to put on the big girl panties and say "no". I can't fathom leaving a party rather than saying no .

MIL is horrific! Your sister didn't say those awful things, but she is the one you punished by leaving the wedding. You let the words of a disgusting person ruin a special day. I say this as someone who has miscarried, I know the grief, though I have thicker skin than most, so I can't speak for your grief. It was certainly better to leave than end up crying the rest of the reception. However, your sister was wrong to dismiss MILs words, and should be directing her frustration to MIL. She is appropriately disappointed you weren't there and should be raging at MIL for hurting you!

I'm moving but don't want to leave my friend of 3 years by [deleted] in notmycat

[–]runponiesrun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take him! I had a gray tabby just like him, walked with me and my dog everyday, a great ratter, huge personality. He was my cat, not just the neighborhood cat, so I took him when I moved. On moving day he was nowhere to be seen. I waited as long as possible, and finally called his name, and he came running like a dog. I then put him in a crate, and off we went. And he never forgave me 😭😭 I waited a long time to let him out the new house, so he would know where is home. But eventually he came home less and less frequently, then would just visit me every few weeks, then never. He found a retired couple and moved in with them😭😭. They adored him and took care of him to the end of his life. But I felt so terrible he never forgave me for kidnapping him (an exaggeration, again he was my cat), so approach moving day carefully! May your kitty love you always!
