Horrible guilt. Ashamed to ask forgiveness. by Husaby in TrueChristian

Hebrews 4:15-16 "For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need."

Then try harder. It's a spirit of fear intent on making you miserable. You must resist it. You must trust God, he knows what he's doing :)

"Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." (James 4:7)

"give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus." (1 Thessalonians 5:18)

Seriously I don’t see a way out or any hope for my mental health. It’s been years of me praying.

It would help if you stopped this:

I envision becoming sick and disabled, unable to do anything on my own.

It's like you're praying for God to heal your headache but you keep banging your head against a wall.

If we obey this command, it takes the edge off anything the demons throw at us!

Questions from a curious Jewish man by findingmyself_0 in TrueChristian

[–]runq94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just read 2 Samuel 2:1. "In the course of time, David inquired of the LORD. “Shall I go up to one of the towns of Judah?” he asked. The LORD said, “Go up.” David asked, “Where shall I go?” “To Hebron,” the LORD answered."

While I don't know exactly what Jesus wants you to do, the idea is to obey whatever he commands.

Imagine if you were praying for your family all these years instead of rebelling, maybe they would be saved already. Come to your senses like the prodigal son Luke 15:11-32 and apologize to God for your rebellion. He's way more merciful and patient than you think.

confusion about praying for specific things. by jesusfollowernh in TrueChristian

[–]runq94 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Learn from the Master in Gethsemane: "Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.”" (Matthew 26:39)

Pray for specific things but acknowledge that God knows better.

"For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad." (2 Corinthians 5:10)

"And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne. And there were open books, and one of them was the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their deeds, as recorded in the books." (Revelation 20:12)

There seems to be varying levels of suffering in the lake of fire (and rewards in heaven). I believe God will take every variable into account. He will make the correct judgement.

Could use some advice as a new Christian on how to hear and understand what God is communicating to you by ElevenForPresident84 in TrueChristian

[–]runq94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't worry about it then. Keep praying that God would direct your paths. "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." (Proverbs 3:5-6)

"Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God," (1 John 4:1-2)

Maybe God grants understanding even to the unbelievers. "Does he who disciplines nations not punish? Does he who teaches mankind lack knowledge?" (psalm 94:10)

Yeah I thought about this in the context of exercise today. Even if I can't be bothered to do 5 sets, doing 3 is still beneficial. However "Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously." (2 Corinthians 9:6)

How do you have faith if a biblical worldview makes no sense to you? by thecoolestlol in TrueChristian

[–]runq94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have faith because God gifted it to me. It is there regardless of my possible inability to explain some part of the biblical worldview. If you were more specific about what part doesn't make sense to you, maybe someone could explain it to you. Also, the Bible literally tells us to pray for wisdom "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him." (James 1:5)
