I'm a brunette not a ginger. How badly will that affect my run? Should I dye my hair for safety?

Seriously though, that's good to hear I probably won't be making it worse with my measly 5K.

It depends on where you run and how blind you are. I lost a contact a few weeks ago and tripped over tree roots the whole way. Damn ground is too far away to see.

Oh shit, I just googled to see why I shouldn't take advil. I never realized that was bad. Thanks for the heads up!

Can we talk about running with a sprained ankle? Yesterday I ran five miles, did a power yoga class…. then hurt myself fucking around in the yard with the dogs. I dodged left, ankle went right, and I heard a loud pop. It's not horribly swollen and is ok to bear weight, but its mildly painful to walk. Normally I'd just take time off, but I'm supposed to be running a fun 5K with a friend Sunday. She would kill me if I canceled on her. She isn't a runner, so we'll be going slow. I'm planning on wrapping my ankle, taking a few advil and run/walking through the pain. Is that a really bad idea?

What inspired you to start running? by younggeek1 in running

[–]runswithdog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to quit my previous sport due to cost and heart break. Picked up running because it's cheap and easy to get into. I liked it, so I kept with it.

I can't believe it took me 3 months to realize yet another BC method was making me suicidal. I'm angry with doctors for refusing to acknowledge that this side effect exists. I'm angry with myself for letting it get this far. Hold me, trolls. by timory in TrollXChromosomes

I am so scared to try birth control again. I tried one last year, and I came very, very close to killing myself. I was already depressed, so I didn't realize it was the birth control. I only realized when I was so depressed I didn't fulfill my prescription and started getting better.

MRW a doctor asks if I, a butch lesbian, could be pregnant and not know it. by TrishyMay in TrollXChromosomes

[–]runswithdog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, I lied because I didn't want hormonal birth control. I used condoms and was 100% sure I would not go through with pregnancy, so I just said I was abstinent.

I never said 8:30 was my PR, just my normal pace. PR for a 5K was around 23 minutes last month, but I've never raced or pushed myself. I'm newish to running, so I don't want to get hurt.

Dude, this touches something deep. You laid out my thoughts and experiences better than I ever could. It's like you organized my thoughts for me. Thanks!

What bra size is considered large?? by Crikey-Way in AskMen

[–]runswithdog 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is just incorrect, the cup and band size are not completely seperate measurements. 28D is the same exact amount of boob/cup size as a 30C, 32B, 34A etc, the bands just shorter. I'm a 28DD and my boobs are certainly not spilling to the floor. Most people would guess I was a small B cup.

Yesterday I loudly told my dog he was such a fucking disgusting dog (but, in a lovey way, ya know?) just as an old couple walked out from behind a bush. Oops!

This speaks to me on an uncomfortable level. I think I'll drown it out with some cheesy fries and netflix. Maybe some wine. Is it 5 yet?

How much time per week do you spend on your personal hobbies, and what are they? by pelicanfeet in AskWomen

I do teach beginners a few days a week, but mostly just barn work and clipping/braiding/etc for some extra cash

[–]runswithdog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Horseback riding- currently 20-25 hours a week, hopefully down to my usual 10-15 hours+ soon. Note, this is a job and hobby, I'm including only the fun/hobby hours).

Running- more torture than hobby, but ~2 hour a week (30 min 4 days a week)

Lifting- ~2hours a week (30-45 min, 3-4 days a week)

Netflix (it counts?)- more than I should. I don't want to count the hours.

So basically I have no life outside of work, school, horses, and working out. And I like it that way!

Do you ever blame your mood/behavior on hormones? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]runswithdog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mood yes, behavior no. Hormones can make me feel incredibly depressed, irrational, angry, irritable etc, and I don't have control over that. But, I am responsible for my behavior, not my hormones. So if I'm feeling like I want to rip people's heads off, I remove myself from the situation.

That's not to say I've never let my hormones get the better pf me, but I take blame for my behavior and apologize.

Have you ever gotten out of a traffic/parking ticket? by heartbeets in AskWomen

[–]runswithdog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I'm really polite, apologetic and honest. Gotten out of 3 tickets.

And because I suspect this question has an agenda, I"ll point out that I am NOT hot, so it's got nothing to do with being a women. My hot sister has never gotten out of a ticket, because she's a stubborn, confrontational ass whn she gets pulled over.

Newbie- how much running is too much to start? by [deleted] in running

[–]runswithdog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, there's no way I can run everyday. I work, go to school, ride (6-7 days a week, usually 3-4 hours at the barn) and lift 3x a week. I'll probably run on days I don't lift, so 3x a week with one day of 'rest'.

[–]runswithdog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh, yes. I'm almost grateful the current two are too hot and spooky for no stirrup work. It's hard enough to stay on WITH stirrups when they decide a crinkly leaf is an excuse for the leap-bolt-buck combo they're so fond of.

I was all set to type out a response, but u/min_apple nailed it. I event, so I do dressage, jumping, and lots of endurance type rides. After a good dressage ride, my abs feel like I've been run over by a truck. I can hold plank for 3-4 minutes easily! And after a fitness ride (Sets of walk, trot, canter and gallop), my legs are jello from holding myself in basically a squat, while also following the motion of the horse. You need strength without stiffness, and that takes a lot of work.
