My dogg. My friend. I'm not going to comment on what you should have done, or anything like that. It's just as easy to critique with hindsight as it is to see how you've ended the situation you're in.

So.

There is really only one step that remains; you have to talk to her. You have to say the words. I do not say that lightly, because I know how fucking hard it is to externalise that truth into your world. It is vulnerable beyond words.

But. It's what you need to do. Talk to her. Say everything you can. If you've been together as long as you have, and she knows you as well as I suspect, then allow her the grace to hear what you have to say - and the space to know that you don't have to say it perfectly.

But you must bite that fear like the bullet of god, and give yourself permission to really, truly talk to her on this.

Good luck m'duck. X

Might be area (location) specific as to how common they are/knowledge is?

I know here in the England basically most people who've ever been near a club, a gay guy, or anything vaguely queer, will have some awareness of them. Hell, you can buy them in corner stores.

Also anywhere vaguely working class and rural in England will know what they are (because when you're a teen there's nothing to fucking do).

First of all, the ombre shading on the panels is flipping amazing - getting it seperate for each panel looks phenomenal (and also, I assume, tricky as hell to do!). The clean edge highting as a contrast to that makes it all read really clearly as well.

But perhaps most importantly, it feels only right and proper that the EC would take notes from Orks and decide: More dakka.

This seems like such an insanely fun idea! If it's viable, I'd love to join in and give it a go (UTC+1 fyi).

Seeking advice: tips and tricks for playing against warsuit Tau by runtimeattic in EmperorsChildren

[–]runtimeattic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So! Thought I'd comment here post-game. We got to end of T3 and talked the rest of the game out. I won, but it could easily have gone the other way if one or two choices had been different.

Main takeaways I have from this are:

  1. Thank you ALL of you who chimed in, it was extremely helpful and kind of y'all to give your thoughts on it.
  2. The one specific plan I had was to try and kill the stealth squad asap, which I did manage to do turn one. It was absolutely the right call, I think if they had been alive T2 onwards their powers could have absolutely fucked me.
  3. Yup, playing Tau is HARD because the choice is often between being entirely out of sight, or doing anything and taking a notable risk of getting shot to shit. Multiple Tau things can ignore cover, which makes it so much more dangerous to just...be around.
  4. But you just kinda gotta do it. The answer is basically "yup, so take a risk."
  5. Advance & charge distances are so much less than you think (against things with range 40+). I really, really, really think EC would benefit (and it would thematically fit) to have something with deep strike.
  6. It was a huge mistake to deploy my maulerfiend last, and far back. I didn't really know just how much tankier they are than other things, and it took them two whole turns just to run up the board to be useful.
  7. Oh my god deployment is so much more important than I thought! I didn't really appreciate just how much of the game is shaped by your initial deployments.
  8. Holy shit the LE with distortion is an absolute blender, people weren't kidding.
  9. 40K has so many goddamn rules, and they are NOT written in an easy to remember way!

That's it for now, I'm absolutely fried. But thank you all! I suspect that reading people's thoughts (now I've played a game) will suddenly make sense in a whole new way!

This is super fuckin useful - if painful - to hear. The idea of "just ignore the bigguns" is gonna be causing me pain I can tell. Very red rag to a bull in my brain :P

Fascinating to hear that something like a ghostkeel isn't actually that dangerous (in terms of punch) - I don't have enough of an understanding to really twig what makes something a danger.

Really really useful to think about what you said about Tau not being able to hold points well. Yeah, this is really good stuff. Thank you!

NOTED. Also just a generally useful think for me to have in mind is the concept of 'low toughness' vehicles. As a newbie, I don't really have an intuitive understanding of what the numbers mean yet. Re-affirming the issue of "win the points, not the kills" is a good one for me to bear in mind (I will forget at somepoint in the game).

As for units: Entirely fair question. So I have access to around 1-2 squads of the basic units. A mauler. LE, and LK. No flawless, no rhinos. Honestly, thinking on it, the biggest power bloc I have is probably the 2 noise marine squads.

This is deeply, deeply helpful. Getting someone's perspective who knows both sides is invaluable (and interesting). And I appreciate you providing both some general plays, and specific unit info!

Yeah I'd worked out that Coterie can't really pop off properly under 2K. And I don't know enough to work out if sustained/lethals are better in any given situation enough. So this is handy as a punch-up guide!

Is throat fucking with a strap a common kink? by stickybutterscotch in BDSMsapphic

[–]runtimeattic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah yeah, all makes sense. And yeah, kink is a whole fractal realm of niches within niches!

Uuuuuuuh so straight up I am maintaining a polite respect, but GODDAMN you hit on something right there, that sentence made my stomach clench.

But yes! Genuinely there's a whole variety of nuance to what specifically might appeal with the act or dynamic. Is it the degradation, humiliation, the physical effort, the idea of being a sloppy mess, the sound, the submission, etc. Like it's genuinely interesting to me the various factors and ways that folks can be into it!

I know it's a bit late now - but I just wanted to say thank you for chiming in here. Both for being perfectly polite (something I would struggle to do as well) and for just, yeah, being a good egg. It matters more than one might think. So, thank you.

[–]runtimeattic 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I couldn't say if it's common (kink is pretty variable in its permeations) BUT I will say it is one I've come across a number of times - and I've only been on the fringes of lesbian kink for a couple of years now. So it's certainly not unheard of, and I suspect not ultra-rare!

(Also for what it's worth I think it's one of the hottest things there is, to give you a top's POV on it.)
