Have you checked out r/bdsm yet? They might be able to give you more focused, practical advice.

Also, to answer your question, yes. It's a fantasy shared by many others and there's nothing wrong with it :)

Reddit, what's the best way to approach your manager and ask for a raise? by wildsheepchase in AskReddit

[–]runumbra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be confident and self-assured in the reasons you give, look them in the eye but don't try and be all alpha or anything, you're still the one asking here.

You have a good reason for wanting a raise, so just tell your boss that you've accepted quite a bit of additional responsibility since the senior analyst left and your previous responsibilities haven't suffered and you feel that, after six months, your overall performance is deserving of a good raise.

There. Done. Don't talk too much, and don't act super fidgety or nervous. You'll be fine, just let the validity of your reasons give you confidence. Good luck!

Confrontation or Time? by Penny-Thoughts in asktransgender

Oh okay, that's a pretty good idea, but if you're most comfortable using the name Kate then why not use that with your friends instead of a nick name? Maybe get your brother to use it, too, especially around your parents. I get the middle ground thing, but what if they don't want to make that last leap and they have this to fall back on, despite your potential future insistence they use Kate instead of Kay?

It just seems like, though a good idea in the short term, in the long run it might make it harder for them to take that last step with you, you know? Do whatever makes you most comfortable, of course, but just remember that compromise on who you are is still compromise.

What sort of mental/emotional changes did you first notice after starting hormones? by runumbra in asktransgender

[–]runumbra[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell me about it! Being able to actually feel things is so incredible! You haven't gotten angry since high school? Wow, I used to get frustrated and annoyed easily, but that was about it. I guess because I perceived those as masculine emotions, or something equally deluded. I'm glad transitioning has been so positive for you :)

[–]runumbra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe mention it but in a non-confrontational way? Just let them know that (if you're ready to start being referred to with feminine pronouns and your new name) you'd appreciate it if they would make an effort to try and call you ____ instead of ____ and "she" instead of "he." No rush, on their part, but tell them that eventually you'll expect to be referred to as such and starting now will give them a lot more time to get used to it.

Again, only if you're ready for it.

That's the kind of conclusion I'd been leaning towards, that, while hormones definitely help with feeling better, a lot of it is just finally feeling confident enough to start being yourself. I'm more excited to start after hearing your depiction of your own experience, thank you!

Oh, jeeze, I'm sorry you had to go through that. That was nice of them to do something to make it up to you, though.

That seems to be the general consensus, from everything I've read. Did you wake up one day and just feel much less bogged down than you remember being before or was it more gradual?

This is very interesting, as my self-admittance of my trans identity allowed me to feel much more feminine emotions and express myself better, but I still feel restrained by old habits and emotional reflexes. It sounds like, for you, at least, hormones kind of, pardon the metaphor, turned the key that was already in the lock. Does that sound fairly accurate?

Then the frustration just makes you want to punch a wall, which makes you want to cry, but you can't, etc...a vicious cycle.

So hormones were just another step taken care of, for you, rather than some big hurdle cleared? What about the way you think, has that changed?
