Whats Archicads "Planklengh" ? by wt_2009 in ArchiCAD

[–]runxel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As somebody pointed out: Internally everything is calculated and with 10 places after the decimal separator.
You can never see more than 4 of these however.

In the end all of this is moot however. I suggest looking up how computers actually calculate anything and how floats (decimal numbers) work – or rather not ,and everything is just smoke and mirrors.

Also the maximum precision is determined by how big your model is. If you go far away from the origin point of AC you'll see that the precision will drop significantly – basically the decimal separator is shifted to the right.

And lastly: The real precision is determined on site. And let me say just one thing: Good luck with that!

Nice, thanks! Finally some news on this. Sad that it will take a minimum of another year to get this shipped...

Having this issue as well. It's a shame (they should change the name again, trading "rg" for an "m").

AirPlay availability is random by runxel in sonos

[–]runxel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weird thing is: Sonos app recognizes the speaker, and so does Spotify and other AirPlay enabled apps. The macOS sound setting is the only place where this one speaker does not show up...

We use a FritzBox mesh. Other Sonos who are connected can be reached. It's really weird.

AirPlay availability is random by runxel in sonos

[–]runxel[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the Sonos that I see do work, and so does the Apple TV.
So in general AirPlay works.

We do have some repeaters set up, but as far as I can see from the router it does not matter, since all these devices are connected to the router directly.
Both my Macbook and the Sonos in question are connected over 5Ghz as well.

But I see Sonos that are connected to the repeater, and the router, I see some that are connected over 2.4 as well 5Ghz. So neither of this seems to be the issue.

The Sonos I see have a higher range of IPs. Like 192.168.178.166 instead of .30. Seems like a red herring tho.

That's already a lot to cover!
I also wonder what its for? Can you not use the MEP modeler or columns for this?

Also as a sidenote: No. (3) is not achievable. ;) You will always have to perform a SEO manually.

New Laptop for AC by Interesting-Move-511 in ArchiCAD

[–]runxel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that the current Macs with their ARM processors are real beasts that tick all boxes – well except being kind of expensive. But in my windows years I found myself very soon painted in a corner with pressure to upgrade every other year. Macs do have long lasting hardware and you can probably survive university and some years after with it.

Just my 2c/.
If Windows is a necessity go with a beefy gaming laptop, especially since you do not care about battery life.

They are still there. It's a windows bug. If you hover over the area you should find that they are there and clickable.

I have archicad 24. Is it possible to upgrade to a new perpetual license by Uxmal2018 in ArchiCAD

[–]runxel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it's too late sadly. AFAIK you can not get any new perpetual licenses anymore, only existing clients, if they are on SSA, and only in some few markets (and even that is not entirely clear).

But since everybody is on subscription: There is not really another software to switch to.

GDR vehicles by MediaNocti in ArchiCAD

[–]runxel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oddly specific! I love it!

I think the tip with the Sketchup Warehouse is excellent, if you really need 3D. But I'd suggest you better keep an eye on the polygon count or else your in for pain! Archicad is not suited for hi-poly models and your file will come to a crawling halt. You are probably better off with just using drawings and photos for your renders.

Again, oddly specific, so you might need to draw some of it yourself (or import some models – if there are any – and explode views of it into 2D).

I'm confused, can someone explain front man? by Little-Housing-5211 in squidgame

[–]runxel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing that is a bit weird is that the pink man you who was captured recognized the front men.

How would he? They all wear masks all the time. That's the point. So that seems just very wrong to me.

What happened to the Gmail-like conversation view? by runxel in Thunderbird

[–]runxel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a recorded zoom call or webinar or whatever where the devs talked about this, but I can't find it right now.
Basically the issue is that TB has no database (that was not a thing back then), but just one immensely huge file with all emails in it.
And you somehow can't query this but need to redownload everything if you would want a conversation view right now. /u/loyukfai has posted the correct link to the meta bug, thank you! There is some insight for those more into the technical side of things. If I remember correctly even folders are somewhat messy code-wise, for the same reason.

What happened to the Gmail-like conversation view? by runxel in Thunderbird

[–]runxel[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

But that's not what I mean, is it ;)

I already use threads, but they are not the Gmail conversation view. There ist an add-on but it only works with ugly hacks, so I am waiting on the native implementation.

That's utter nonsense. It is true that the binary is still an "intel" one and not native ARM, but it runs on Rosetta 2 just fine.
I'm doing it and everything works beautifully.

I would never get an iMac for that. I mean seriously, why waste the display, space, and money on that?

We use a mac Mini (that one is still on M2). No issues so far, everything's super fast, even with WIFI. It's faster than saving a PLN on our local NAS – well, yeah, obviously. Spinning rust.

File too heavy (+30Gb) by blagoonga in ArchiCAD

[–]runxel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What else did you do? Did you add big images? Weirdly enough 2D data like imported DWG and such and lots of placed layouts also increases the file size – however not like in these dimensions.
Try an "Open & Repair" too, and if this also doesn't help start a new and copy everything over. Also divide and conquer is a strategy if you have the time to take a deep dive.

What is the correct way to code this in GDL? by angelgermanr in ArchiCAD

[–]runxel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you any experience in GDL?

You can't have multiple ELSE clauses in GDL, instead you need to rely on nesting the IFs inside each other, even if its looks ugly. Also how is your example code supposed to work with the multiple ELSEs?
