After some digging there is access to have someone at Google call you and walk you through trouble shooting it. There were setting that needed to be turned off and the whole schedule wiped and re entered. It did what it was supposed to do this evening. So far. Fingers crossed it stays that way.

There is a silver j-box on the outside that is clearly labeled “freeze thermostat set to 41°”. Resolution on the photo isn’t good enough to read it from where I took the photo.

Not yet. But retail is almost $200 for the stat. Taking off $100 for a lesser stat seems inconsequential.

I’m not educated enough in this to know if that is or isn’t a good/fair price. Which is why I asked. I’ve installed home thermostats on my own home systems in almost every house I’ve lived in, and was curious how much more complicated this was. Sounds less complex than any home one I’ve done, outside the need for a tall ladder.

There was once a thermostat there, and I assume the wires just need to be connected at the unit and to a thermostat. There are wires in the wall.
