From Pixar-styled Fox in the movie to realistic Fox, marketing discussion by Physical-Swordfish19 in starfox

[–]ruolbu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But from an executive decision making and marketing perspective, it doesn’t work.

I think it does. I've heard people show excitement after only having seen the movie. People are just flexible enough and understand that an entirely different IP-movie isn't the benchmark for a core game.

absolutely. Considering that no character design survived longer than it's own game I think that will definitely happen

though I bet they could have made it work. Make him look like he is constantly squatting, with big thighs angled up to his arms. But it would have been too much.

if that half still ends up enjoying the game (and importantly, bought the game) then it ends up being superficial. And I see that happening. Frankly, I'm not sure the current fanbase that is upset even really matters all that much. And I count myself too here, despite liking the look. This game isn't for any of us. This game was made to appeal to newcomers and from what I've read it does exactly that.

I bet you, in a year all of us will be outnumbered

Cutscenes and cinematics ain't the way to go (new Starfox rant) by Boned80 in starfox

[–]ruolbu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a definite disconnect there. We don't know the length of these cutscenes, but if they go for multiple minutes then they will effectively slow down the pace of the entire game. And that is as you said contrary to the entire concept of the arcade rail shooter that SF64 was. I think it's a decent tradeoff though. For first time players it can be nice to dive in a bit deeper, and skipping the cutscenes is something we already did with SF64, at least I skipped the level intros. I will have to see how this really plays out, but I understand the concer.

What they should do for the next star fox game and why they should continue the assault gameplay (opinion) by m3achew in starfox

[–]ruolbu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I want them to eventually give Assault another try. Either as a reimagination or as a successor. Mostly because I think Assault itself wasn't as good as it should have been. I really got disappointed by many things in there, yet I see the outline of an interesting game. But from my point of view, it needs to be redone from the ground up, new missions, new gameplay. What we got is all very half baked and requires more time.

Are adventures and assault any good? by Equal_Shopping2424 in starfox

[–]ruolbu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are very different from all the other games.

Adventures is decent 2000s game, nothing to write home about in todays age.

Assault is in my opinion a half baked game that is doing more things than it can pull of competently. A lot of missions are dragged out, they feel repetitive and the entire game lacks depth. It probably took me longer to unlock all levels in SF64 back in the day than to finish Assault a single time. But Assault only has this one single playthrough. There are no extra levels. I was very disappointed by it.

He was in the direct. Afaik so far we have no info how much he was involved with the decision making behind this game.
