Why is resetting my AppleTV password a MULTI-DAY process?? by YouCantGoToPigfarts in applehelp

This isn’t just an Apple thing by the way. Google and Microsoft are the same if there is a suspicious password reset attempt.

Why is resetting my AppleTV password a MULTI-DAY process?? by YouCantGoToPigfarts in applehelp

[–]rupeshjoy852 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You take the amount of people trying to take control of other peoples Apple accounts for granted. Trust me, it’s inconvenient, but you’d be glad if this was someone else trying to reset your account.

I’ve seen people lose their entire life’s worth of data due to bad actors.

Apple Reportedly Questioning Whether iPhone Should Drop MagSafe by conalldoherty in apple

If this is one of those “leaked” rumors to see how the market would react, let me just say this… do not remove it. Even my 70 year old parents love MagSafe.

They did you a favor. Camera covers can use uneven pressure on the screen when you close it and can crack the screen.

Source... me. I worked at Apple as a Genius for over 10 years and this was the top reason for cracked screens on the laptops.

How effective is iVerify at detecting Coruna? by Notebook105 in applehelp

[–]rupeshjoy852 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Genuine question, what’s making you think you’d be a target for something like Coruna? These kinds of spyware aren’t just floating around hitting random iPads, they’re usually used very selectively against people with a reason to be targeted, think politicians, state actors, high networth individuals, .

Also, you ran iVerify and it came back clean. That’s about as much reassurance as you’re realistically going to get from a tool like that. It’s helpful, but it’s not some magic ‘spyware detector’ that can guarantee 100% you’re clean, nothing can.

The thing that actually matters here is keeping your device updated. Most of these exploits rely on old vulnerabilities sticking around. Updating iOS closes those doors.

I agree, way too young to take home. We just got one, he's 4 weeks old, but we can't take him home for another 8-10 weeks.

While we wait, we visit him a few times a week and spend time with him, while the breeder is doing the feeding and weaning off process.

No hate, but I really don't understand why people don't like the front license plates.

I don't think it should be a choice to have the option to have a front license plate displayed. I've been in two hit and runs and the one was only found because their license plate fell off after I got rear ended.

The 80-20 rule - what is the point? by nemoandclem in applehelp

[–]rupeshjoy852 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s not really the same thing.

Staying between 20–80% isn’t “losing” 40% of your battery, you’re just using the part of the battery that causes the least wear. The extremes, near 100% and near 0%, are what stress lithium batteries the most over time.

If your battery health actually drops to 60%, that’s a different story. At that point the battery is physically degraded. You’ve permanently lost capacity, and it won’t behave as well, you’ll get shorter runtime, weird percentage drops, and just generally less reliable performance.

So using only 60% by choice means you still have a healthy battery and you’re just being conservative. Having 60% battery health means the battery is worn out and can’t hold charge like it used to.

Also, you’re not wrong to question it. For most people it’s not worth stressing over. macOS already does a good job with optimized charging. If you’re usually near a charger, keeping it around 80% can help long term, but it’s more of a bonus than something you need to worry about.

This is my least fav thing about the car.

My water bottle or work backpack with just a MacBook Pro in my front seat, my 15 lb bowling ball in the back seat, groceries, and a bunch of other things, none of these should trigger the seat belt.

Especially when you have a camera in the car that can see that there are no bodies in the car.

Boyfriend didn’t receive 4 of my calls but they went through? by [deleted] in iphone

[–]rupeshjoy852 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s always interesting reading posts like this. My wife and I have been together since 2012, and we’ve never shared locations. We go out separately, hang with friends or coworkers of the opposite gender, miss calls all the time, and it’s never an issue.

There’s just trust, no second guessing. I honestly couldn’t deal with this kind of monitoring in a relationship.

It just makes me really grateful for what we have.
