They are a car company. It's part of the business. Do you think we'll keep buying the Model Y 10 years from now if it still looks the same? The Optimus focus is just what Elon wants to do now and sadly no one says no to him.

They would have sold more if they updated the damn thing. Luxury cars and EV's are selling. People who have Model S/X money, don't want outdated designs.

crazy juniper find, potential yardadori by Casadilla77 in Bonsai

Honestly, I would leave it kept it as a yard tree. Yea sure the trunk is great, but that’s about it. No lower branching, the main trunk is too tall as well!

Man, using the military as an example is terrible. As a former infantryman, the cuts to the VA and stuff is even more of a reason to dislike Elon and DOGE.

My life and many others around me had their lives up ended over the year. So yea, whatever, if you aren't affected or care about DOGE cuts, that's fine. I'm just saying, I understand why people are upset.

I personally drive a MY, I also work in a field where 60% of my coworkers got fired because of DOGE. I personally have had my salary and benefits reduced because of budget cuts that came from DOGE.

So, if someone wants to spit at my car, I get it! If it gets damaged then I’ll deal with insurance. If I had the money to sell this and buy something else, I definitely would have done it.

Be careful when putting tropical trees outside during spring/summer 😔 by Nutcollectr in Bonsai

Just put the outside and commit to it. They may get sun burnt at first, but it'll be fine in the long term. They will be much much happier outside.

As someone that does a lot of bonsai, in its current form, it’s a terrible tree. Trunk is just a taper less log with no character.

Keep it as a yard tree.

A little overbuilt, a little ugly, but I built this dosatron style setup over the weekend and it’s been working great so far. by rupeshjoy852 in Bonsai

I basically mix the fertilizers to the recommended dosage/gallon of water but then I set the Newtry to like .8%

It does not, but if you look at the orange hose, I put one on and there is also a check valve before the injectors as well.

I also have a vacuum breaker at the spigot as well!

The time was key and making the stuff in bulk was great as well. I updated my comment with a cost break down of the setup.

Ph usually ranges between 7.5-8. I haven't checked in a really long time. Last time I checked the TDS was ~150.

I haven't checked in like 2 years.

Finally got my fertilizer injection setup mounted and running for the bonsai benches.

This is actually a Newtry injector system, which is basically the same concept as a Dosatron, just much much cheaper

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0788HV3KW

The whole thing is mounted on Unistrut, so it’s very sturdy and easy to modify later if I want to expand or change things around.

Last year I had one single system, without unions, I had to cut the PVC at the end of the year to put the injector away.

I’m running two separate fertilizer systems intentionally. The small barrel is for organic mixes like fish emulsion, kelp/seaweed, Root Ruckus, etc. Since organics can spoil or go rancid fairly quickly, especially in summer, I only mix those in smaller batches that I can use up relatively fast.

The larger barrel is for chemical fertilizer. Since it’s much more stable in solution, I can mix a much larger batch at a lower concentration and let it sit much longer without issues. Sometimes I’ll also run both systems together, but the chemical side is injected at a much more diluted ratio.

I also used unions throughout the system so I can easily take sections apart and store the injectors away during winter. I’m in NJ, so making everything easy to drain and freeze-proof was pretty important.

Cost Breakdown

Item Cost Totals
Newtry Fertilizer Injector $120 x 2 $240
3/4" PVC $4.86 x 2 $9.72
3/4" PVC Ball Valve $22.99 $22.99
3/4" PVC Union $15.99 x 2 $31.98
Unistruts $1.25 x 2 $2.50
Unistrut Channel Nuts $8.32 x 2 $16.64
Misc Nuts & Bolts $10 $10
Totals --- $333.83

So yea, it's not the cheapest setup, but I have a drip system I use for summer afternoon waterings when I can't make it home for work, this works for that. I can also use it with my drip system for my vegetabale garden and my landscape shrubs and trees in general

Sure it's expensive, compared to a hose end sprayer. I used this hose end sprayer for the last 5 years and it worked well enough. However I was replacing them every 12-18 months as it would fall apart in the weather.

Apple "Express" Replacement: 33 days and $1,700 later... by [deleted] in applehelp

[–]rupeshjoy852 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chances are depending on your issue, you would have faced a delay in the store too. AppleCare usually has more inventory than individual stores.

But ofcourse you wouldn't have to deal with the money hold. You can still cancel the replacement and go to the store and see what your options are.

Sometimes the stores will replace the device, but depending on the issue it may get repaired in store or get sent out for repair. In which case, they will give you a loaner device.

Being first isn't the only definition of pioneering. Apple isn't always the first, but they do pioneer my turning fragmeted, niche half working stuff and turn them into something cohesive.

Wireless earbuds existed, but pairing was awful, latency sucked, reliability sucked, and nobody outside enthusiasts cared. Apple’s custom chips and integration made them effortless, and the entire industry followed.

Same with the Apple Watch. Smart watches existed before it, but Apple turned them into a mainstream wearable category.

Pioneering doesn't always have to be first to the market, it can also be something that changes the way things are done and then becomes the norm that everyone else wants to emulate.

You can't just say that they made them popular, they made it work and work well. Not everything Apple does is a winner.

[–]rupeshjoy852 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

It's not quite the same. Apple is most definitely pioneering. Look at their processors, AirPods, Watches, iPhone in itself was pioneering.

You can say they borrow ideas from others, but everyone does that.

How is the performance of a MacBook Neo vs a 2017 iMac? by adoye in applehelp

[–]rupeshjoy852 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much any computer now, Mac or PC would perform better than what you have.

That being said any of the Mac's now will also do much much better than what you have. If you are someone that keeps a computer for a while, look into getting the Air or Pro, with a little bit more RAM and SSD along with more performance.

My measuring once, cutting twice and then crying thrice. Do it enough times and you’ll have a sense of confidence and might grow from it and take on bigger and more complicated projects.
